Congrats!!! This is great news!! We have been buying from Heartland for many years! We are very happy to hear about this.
BIG NEWS!!!! We want to give a HUGE thank you to all of our customers, vendors and employees for the continued support, helping us grow and better ourselves for you.
We are pleased to announce that we have closed on the purchase of an approximately 31-acre land site that will be the future home of our corporate headquarters and produce distribution operation.
Based in Kenosha for over 25 years, we are committed to continuing our investment in the community with the construction of the state-of-the-art cold storage facility. Upon completion, the facility, which will expand our operational capacity and increase operational efficiencies, will be approximately 206,000 square feet and will employ an anticipated 160 employees. Additionally, the site permits for an approximately 213,000 square feet of future potential building expansion, for a future potential facility size totaling nearly 420,000 square feet.
Harris Architects and Pinnacle Engineering Group will be providing building design and engineering services and Riley Construction will be performing construction services. Keith Puritz of Cushman & Wakefield represented Heartland Produce in the transaction.
Heartland Produce is the first project to break ground on the site formerly occupied by the Dairyland Greyhound Park and is the catalyst to the redevelopment efforts of the Forest County Potawatomi Community (“FCPC”) and Zilber Property Group (“ZPG”) to create a noteworthy mixed-use development. Named Greeneway, FCPC and ZPG plan to integrate sustainable practices into the project through green design and construction practices, wellness-centric certifications, enhancements to natural environmental features and the development of high performing, energy-efficient facilities. The development of Greeneway is anticipated to total nearly 1.6 million square feet in industrial construction, and approximately 432 multi-family residential apartment units and 117,000 square feet of anticipated future commercial retail and office space.
