Here’s a little fun fact about these smelly jelly eggs 😀

The century egg has at least four centuries of history behind its production. They are also known as preserved eggs, hundred-year eggs, thousand-year eggs, thousand-year-old eggs, millennium eggs, skin eggs, or black eggs, are a Chinese egg-based culinary dish made by preserving duck, chicken or quail eggs in a mixture of clay, ash, salt, quicklime, and rice hulls for several weeks to several months, depending on the method of processing 🧐 …


The method for creating century eggs likely came about through the need to preserve eggs in times of plenty by coating them in alkaline clay, which is similar to methods of egg preservation in some Western cultures.The clay hardens around the egg and results in the curing and creation of century eggs instead of spoiled eggs.


Century eggs can be eaten without further preparation other than peeling and rinsing them – on their own, or as a side dish.


The most popular way for Thais to enjoy these eggs is “Yum Jai Yeow Ma” as shown. Century eggs tossed with spicy leaf celery salad. Best with pandan rice soup or plain old steamed jasmine rice 😉

This is Thai version of Hokkian Popiah which is a type of fresh spring rolls.


Popiah is often eaten in the Fujian province of China and its neighbouring Chaoshan & in various regions throughout Southeast Asia) and also some parts in Taiwan .The origin of popiah dates back to the 17. In varieties of Hokkien, it is also commonly referred to as “Lun Piah” which is the etymological origin of "lumpia" in Indonesia and the Philippines.


This Thai version is called Popiah-Sott
#ปอเปี๊ยะสด 🌯 A popular Bangkok Chinatown’s Street food, rarely found here in the US (fresh & good ones) ... Here’s a fun Food Fact about Kaya 👩🏻‍🏫



Kaya toast is a breakfast dish originating from Singapore. The introduction of kaya toast happened in close timing with the appearance of kopi tiams or coffee shops in the country 🇸🇬
One story claim that the Hainanese immigrants had previously served as cooks for the British residents, while others believed that kaya toast was derived from foods prepared on British ships. The kaya spread was considered a replacement for western fruit jams.

The kaya of Thailand is called sangkhaya in Thai. There are two major types of kaya eaten in Thailand. One type is more liquid than the other, while the less thick kaya is similar to what is eaten in Malaysia and Indonesia. People either spread it on steamed or toasted bread or dip the bread into kaya. This kind of kaya is commonly sold by street vendors but has recently been brought into tea and coffee shops 🇹🇭


Our version of San-Kaya toast consist of coconut milk, sugar, evaporated milk & pandan leaf. Spread on Japanese milk toast & condensed milk
🍞 ... this Thai Pandan San-Kaya can also be enjoyed with steamed sweet rolls or even better with Chinese Cruller (a.k.a. chinese beignet) 😋

To celebrate we would like to recognize an Asian American of Thai Roots, Tammy Duckworth, born in Bangkok, Thailand to an American Father (veteran) and her Mother is Thai-Chinese who’s originally from Chiangmai, Thailand 🇹🇭


She is an American politician and retired Army National Guard lieutenant colonel serving as the junior United States Senator from Illinois since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented Illinois's 8th district in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2017


She is the first Thai American woman elected to Congress, the first person born in Thailand elected to Congress, the first woman with a disability elected to Congress, the first female double amputee in the Senate, and the first senator to give birth while in office. Duckworth is the second of three Asian American women to serve in the U.S. Senate, after Mazie Hirono, and before Kamala Harris.

time for healthy dessert ... 😘🙆🏻🐒👊🌴☀️🍋☺️👍🏻👼 ... i made this for our catering event last week and it was a big hit!! and there's no left over for me so i have to make it again for myself 😆 .. "warm coconut red rice pudding with mango compote" ... an alternate choice for mango and sticky rice 😁💃😂👏👯 ... while it's not mango season, they seems to be bland and not as sweet, that's when mango compote comes in place. chopped them up, marinate with simple syrup & GM 👊🌞👍🏻🎉 you are good to go!! 🐒😁☀️👩‍❤️‍👩💋🌴👯 ... Happy Monday guys!!
