Celebrating has always been one of my favorite things. I am a birthday month person and have always been the one to remember all the special dates in my family.

Any occasion to make ordinary things special is my specialty. Break out the fancy dishes on a normal day, light candles for dinner just because it’s Michigan and winter and gets dark out at 4:00pm…too soon??

Anyway, when Gracey reached out about an anniversary session I was all for it. It’s a privilege to be able to celebrate milestones, big or small.

3 Things I wish someone told me when I started my photography business.

1. Be curious about how you are changing.

I have been creative since I can remember. But entering into a business where creativity is your bread and butter can be challenging. Your creativity and eye changes as you change. That’s ok and good. Growth is part of any creative endeavor. Your growth will not look the same as someone else’s.

2. One of the best things for me was having a friend to text to tell me NOT to buy another preset when I was tempted too. To learn how to use my camera and tools and not just jump to the newest trend or “best” gear.

3. Stop consuming and start creating. Create for yourself. Not for what others will see.

I am a summer girl alllll the way and am never excited to see it go. But this stormy day has me thinking about pumpkin spice donuts, which makes the pain of summer leaving a little more bearable. 😂

Fall mini sessions are just around the corner! This year I am offering 2 dates with times in both morning and evenings.
