Hey everyone! Our little costuming group is growing to the point that serval of the members are going to be able to lead the guided build projects without me, which is great for when I can't be around because of shows. But this also means my tools won't be around for those events so we're putting a toolbox together for each location. We already have one for the triangle folks, so now we're working on the Charlotte one. A little throwback Thursday to the new portfolio we made earlier this year that got us into the Texas Renaissance Festival!!! We’ve been in such disbelief about it, but also super excited for the adventure that awaits!! We were quite amused to find out that we will be beside the camels(and elephants) and the maze in Texas, just as we are in Georgia, so we’ll be fairly easy to find!

I guess this is also an announcement we’re moving to Texas for 3 months. 😅

It only took 10 years of working two jobs to get here, but these days, I don't very often know where my work life and my fun life begin and end. I work with amazing friends and family. I play with amazing friends and family. And all I see from everyone is joy and laughter. I'm so grateful to everyone who has been a part of getting here. It's been an epic journey!

And speaking of journeys: our next step is finding a bigger workshop, retail, and artist collective studio building. So if anyone knows of a 6,000- 20,000 sq/ft building for rent in Durham, let me know. Looking at spending $5,000-$10,000 a month depending on location, size and condition, but could go higher for the perfect spot.

The NC Thespian Festival was a great success and we had such an amazing time! We got to see some familiar faces from last year and plenty of new ones too. With 168 students coming through our workshops, we definitely feel like we’ve left a mark on some and inspired at least a couple to pick up a new hobby and keep at it. 😁 the amount of creativity that comes through those doors leaves us feeling excited for seeing what we’ll see from them in the future.

A huge thank you to the for inviting us back and kicking off our busy season with such an awesome event. We’ll be looking forward to the next one!!

If you've ever attended an event in an armor suit before, you probably know they aren't the most comfortable outfits. However, all armor suits don't wear the same. Having an articulated torso rather than a single plate allows for a much better range of motion and since it doesn't hold you in a static posture, spares you back from the knotting you often will get with extended wears.

Another year, another round of mailing my portfolio off to Ren Fairs. Did you know that in most fields a majority of portfolios don't even get opened? That's why it's always a good idea to make even the portfolio itself a showing of your artistic capabilities. I like to think it would be hard to resist opening this one up.

Finally got caught up enough to work on this a bit more. Now that it's wet formed all I have to do is wait for it to dry, seal it, and add a fancy crest to the center and it'll be good to go.

It's looking to be an exciting year coming up in 2024!

The Festival of Legends has a new home! We will be celebrating our 11th annual event at Sugg Farm at Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs, NC this April 27-28, 2024!

The Festival of Legends was fortunate to have called Optimist Farm home for the last six years. We thank the Optimist Club of Raleigh for their support, but we have grown, and are excited to begin the next chapter of our story (now with more parking space!) at Sugg Farm!

With this move comes changes, and we will share event details as they become available.

Til then: raise a glass with us to Optimist Farm, to the good times we have had, and to the even better times yet to come!

We often get asked if we’ve considered getting into movie/tv costuming, so we often reminisce on a cool project we got to be a part of back when we were just getting going in 2013/14 era. We made the monks bracers and those are the Nightwalker’s shoulders in the other scene!

We’re already looking forward to the next time we get the opportunity 😁

Look close. Can you tell what this is printed on? This is one of our leather maps, and in honor of us experiencing the hottest day on our planet ever recorded not too long ago, we've been recycling leather cushions to print on.

Fun fact: all leatherwork is recycling. Any time you make or buy something out of cow leather, you are using the waste material from the meat industry to make something awesome!

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Wear some cow.
