Whiskey Flat Encampment # 22 is now officially on the Books. Every year your reenactors do their best, come rain or shine or sickness, to deliver the best Old West living history experience possible. We are always a bit different year after year, whether it be the great floods of January and March 2023, Covid, or a matter of sickness or just plain attrition. Whatever it is, rest assured, you can expect to step back in History and find yourself emersed in a Kern Valley Historical experience you will not find elsewhere. Enjoy this little video.

Surprisingly we had a great day at WFE Considering the rains this morning. As soon as the Sun came out it was People everywhere! Saturday will be busy.

Pray for Michael Batelaan. After working hard today to set up a mock Chuck Wagon and prepare to feed all the reenactors. He took these Pics and then, feeling bad, went to ER and is now in a Hospital in Bakersfield.

Yes It's Raining and Francis has his Ham & Beans going. As you know, your Whiskey Flat Reenactors are here for you year after year come rain, snow, sleet, or shine. Camp is Set and we are on schedule. As you see the storm goes away tomorrow and you can look forward to a full weekend of fun and sun.

We had a great Dry time setting up camp today. Encampment forecast for tomorrow, Friday is for Rain untill 1p.m. Then clearing up For a great Friday evening Camp fire. Saturday and Sunday forecast is for no rain and Very nice both days

WHISKEY FLAT ENCAMPMENT 2025
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Thursday February 13
All camps should be set up by sundown and ready for the Public on Friday:
• 10:00 a.m. Elementary Kids from all Elementary Schools in the Valley will do their Annual Encampment tour.
• Weapons checked at the Sheriff’s Office and get your Ribbon (required for all encampment reenactors carrying weapons of any type).

Friday February 14
07:00 – 09:00 - Camp set-up completed and Defarbed. All Vehicles removed from lower Encampment area.

09:00 am- All reenactors MUST REGISTER with their Camp Director and Directors provide registration to Producer.
09:00 am- Final Weapons Checks accomplished by Sheriff(s)
10:00 am- All Hands Briefing (mandatory for all Reenactors) At Sheriffs Tent.

11:00 - 5:00 pm Open to public
11:30, 1:30, 3:30 Gunfight & Campfire Story
5:00 pm- Camp closed to Public, All Weapons secured.

Saturday February 15
07 am- Camps readied / Defarbed for after the parade activities. If participating in Parade, All Directors should make sure at least one member stays at camp to assure security of camp property.
09:00 Parade prep for those attending.
11:30 Reenactors after Parade – Please Return to Encampment quickly to interact with the Public
12 Noon- 5 pm PUBLIC arrives –(Please hustle back from parade to camp ASAP) Note: In the past, we had an estimated 5,000 people though our camp on Saturday alone– All Reenactors are needed!

12:30, 1:30, 3:30 Gunfight & Campfire Story
5 pm- Camp closed to Public, All Weapons secured.
6 PM Camp Dance - Period Correct attire required (This is a lot of fun and is back by popular demand)

Sunday February 16
07 am- Camps readied for the Public /
08 am- PUBLIC arrives

10 – 11: am- Cowboy Church Service (Open Denomination) Bring Chairs

1:30 Gunfight & Campfire Story

03:30 pm – Camp Awards – All Reenactors, Public welcome.

Were all about History of the Kern River Valley as one may have experienced life 150 years ago. You'll find us down in the Flats (across from the Rodeo grounds). Wow, what a productive work party at the Whiskey Flat Encampment today. Started at 8 a.m. sharp and ended at noon with a great lunch served by Ron Shmidt and family. Thanks Ron! And Thank you to all who came and made quick work of a very messy Encampment. Next Saturday we do the same +++. All volunteers are welcome show with your own tools and help with next steps. We will be doing alot of dirt moving with tractors, Shovels, rakes and wheel Barrels. W**d wackers are always welcome. See you Saturday and Please hang around for another great lunch.
