All of a sudden eight gunshots were heard, and Trump was spotted bleeding through his right ear. The event has thrown the United States election into disarray, adding to an already unpredictable race. Will Americans now view Trump with far greater sympathy? Once again American Legion Post 711, Riders and Honor guard supported our Kern River Valley Cemetary Memorial Day event. We assisted with Flag and wreath postings, Key message by Our very own Jason Grove, and 3 Gun Salute. Later we Celebrated at Tank Park.

Reminder/Update to Whiskey Flat Encampment work party schedule:

• This Saturday January 20 – Volunteers needed for gathering usable wood for Campfires. Those Qualified with Chain Saw to help cut rounds for campfires, etc.
• Saturday January 27 – No Volunteer pedestrians. Heavy equipment day to move Dirt and prepare final top soil work.
• Saturday February 3 – Volunteers with rakes shovels, etc. Needed to do final touches on Camp area.
• Saturday Feb 10 – Volunteers Back-up final cleanup day.

A Huge shout out to the Volunteers; companies and organizations like 711 materials, Pruett trucking, Sierra Gateway, Kern County Roads, Camp Owens, Kern River Brewing Co., and Kernville Saloon who have stepped up to make sure Whiskey Flat Encampment comes back after the flood of 3-23. There is a light at the end of the Mine Shaft and like our forefathers of this Valley - We will survive!

The plan is to fill in this hole with the Dirt from up top where the Dog park is. We will move DG in over the rocky fill after that. Problem - We don't have enough DG. Anyone that has DG they could donate, that will help a bunch so that we can level our playing field so to say. This will benefit our Wagons coming down and a flat area for tentage and public.

Help/ UPDATE: The Chamber called today with Good news. We are moving forward with a lot of dirt and more in the next couple days. We need tractor volunteers to show up and move all that dirt around. Boulders have already been covered and i drove my jeep from north to south. If you, or some one you know can volunteer to move dirt around to finish off main street please call Orian Sanders 661 340-0026.

We were quite surprised actually Flabbergasted to see what the Chamber is doing to repair the damage from the flood to our Whisky Flat Encampment area. still a lot to do and IF the Chamber Can get the Dirt to fill it in for our set-up needs and public access, we will be good. Whiskey Flat Encampment 2024!

A major after flood repair project has begun. You may have noticed the dirt work over the boulders at the North entrance. I met with Kernville chamber president, Orian Sanders this morning and discussed the Chambers readiness to repair last March's flood damage. Orian said "The Chamber Board is committed to repairing this "Chamber property" across from the Rodeo grounds so Whiskey Flat Encampment 2024 can take place." This, we agreed, will take a lot of work requiring a whole bunch of fill dirt and equipment (some of which the Chamber has lined up). Community volunteers will be a necessity.
Stay tuned for wood cutting, and "after heavy equipment" work party action. We will be calling on all Encampment volunteers to help final grounds preparation and will post those schedules here.
