I have the privilege of sharing these special moments with so many other families, it was such a joy to be able to share in my nephew’s senior night for his last basketball game this Monday evening.

Although his school doesn’t provide me the same courtside shooting privileges as others do, I’m so happy I was able to document his inspiring talent from the stands.

I love you keep being exceptional! So proud of you, and I’m loving your friends, too. They’re great ones! Go #5!

It’s been three years, almost to the day, since Jessie and Scotty lost their Dad to Covid, and I lost my husband. On September 18th, when Jacques went into the hospital, Jessie asked me if she could wear something of her Dad’s that she could keep with her until he came home. She chose his class ring. Jessie hung it next to her own class ring on a chain around her neck.

She’s never taken it off.

I can’t bring her Dad back for Jessie, but I can capture a memory for her of how no matter where she goes, even to the North Sea, she always brings her Dad’s memory with her.
Cherished forever, close to her heart.

As the result of an unfortunate international incident, one much loved “best mate” had his wedding invitation rescinded. Regrettably, Walter was unable to fulfill his obligation to walk with his family down the St. Augustine Chapel aisle last Saturday. As sad as that is, a plan was concocted to remedy said slight and provide an opportunity for Walter, and the fabulous Oracle, to have their own adventure. During our stay in England, Thea, James, Scotty, Jessie and I took a field trip to the North Sea with these two weddingless family members and my camera. Now, Jessie, Scotty and I join Gareth, Ben, Thea, James, William and Alannah in a tribute to the one of the most loyal groomsmen there could be. We’re sorry you missed the wedding, Walter.

There is so much to be said about this next senior spotlight.

A-rod may be the OG “Miss Joy” fan on the football sidelines. When I look back at the years Alex and I have spent on the field together, I do think he’s the player that was the first to come to the field and hug me before games, he created the pre-game line to greet me, which makes me happier than he can know. He was the first player to make “special requests” of pictures with his teammates or sideline antics before or after the game. His happiness seeing the images became contagious.

He was the first to realize and then it bled into his teammates that I was actually there for them. My whole purpose on the sidelines with any of the sports is to give these athletes images which shows them how talented, strong, and captivating they really are. In this world of social media where young men and women are comparing themselves against an edited, artificial ideal – these sports images don’t lie. The camera captures the truth. And, within this truth is their talent, their courage, their friendships, their perserverance, their commitment, their dedication, their pride in victory and their emotion in defeat. All of it beautiful, every single player and coach valuable.

The number of times A-rod has made me fill with happiness on a sideline are too many to number. His joy at posing for an image or realizing I got the shot of him making a difference on the field. It makes every second of volunteering worth it.

Thank you for being you, A-rod. Thank you for creating an environment with your teammates that embraced me and made me your own.

Whether you’re #6 or #3, you’re always in my heart.
