💜 If you've been in the shop, you've probably seen the picture on the wall of my grandma, Lottie Mae. She passed away on September 29th, 2024, leaving behind a family that absolutely adored her. She was a beacon of love, and she will always have a huge place in my heart.

Today would have been her 92nd birthday. I am so thankful for all the time that I had with her; though I really wish she could have seen the bakery. I'd like to think that she would've been proud.
In honor of her birthday, I made cookies with purple buttercream frosting (her favorite color). I'll be passing them out all day, so come by and celebrate Lottie Mae's birthday with me! 💜

👀 I know some people are curious about what the kitchen looks like (because a few folks have just walked straight back there. 😯 For safety reasons, please don't do that. 🚫), so here it is! 🤩

💫 I set some pretty big goals in the past couple of years, and 2025 will be no different. The first picture is from my notes app. If you look at the bottom, you'll see that it was edited on Dec 11, 2023; before I had any clue what this year had in store. But it is very safe to say that this dream most definitely grew in 2024!
The challenges and lows were there, but they only made the successes that much sweeter. Honestly, this may have been one of the best years of my life, both professionally and personally. In 2024, I :

💍 proposed to the man that I love in front of and 8k+ strangers.
📝 signed the lease on an empty room with absolutely no clue how to build a bakery.
👷‍♂️ watched (and helped some!) as John Cahoon made my bakery vision become a reality.
🏫 sent my one and only child away to college.
🫂 worked with some incredible people to turn the big empty room into an actual business.
🚪 opened the doors of OBX Wake & Take to all of you lovely people.

⏳️It only took 39 years, but I finally know what I want to be when I grow up, and you guys help me make it a reality every single day. Thank you to everyone who played a part in 2024! The goal for 2025 is to MAKE IT THRIVE! (I didn't even realize it rhymed before typing it out, but now I'm extra excited about it! 🤗)

Some of you already know me, but most of you probably don't, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself! My name is Jaclynn, and I am the owner and baker at OBX Wake & Take. When I say "we" in my posts, I am referring to the people in these photos (and so many others not pictured) who help me in any and every way possible. They are my support system, and without them, I wouldn't have made it this far. I spent an embarrassing amount of time making this reel, showing my life from Jan-Dec '23 because I wanted to give you all a peek at the person behind the scones. It took two+ years, countless setbacks, and A LOT of test recipes to get to this point, but launching OBX Wake & Take in August has been life-changing. I now know how determined I can be when it's something I really want... as well as the minimum amount of sleep I need to function. 😴 (I work full-time at a dental office on the beach as well!) You can tell in the video when we launched because my camera roll went from selfies and concert photos, to ALL THE BAKED GOODS! 👩🏻‍🍳😁🤤 I can not express how excited (and anxious 😬) I am to grow OBX Wake & Take in 2024! I look forward to meeting all of you along the way!
