TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
Kelly’s 30th Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit Western Carolina Relief
Tournament directors announced Monday that they intend to allocate half of this
year’s 30th Annual Kelly’s Golf Classic proceeds to aid Western Carolina relief efforts.
Recently devastated by catastrophic flooding as a result of Hurricane Helene’s historic
rainfall, Western Carolina’s mountain region was left literally in ruin, causing wide
spread loss of life with people still unaccounted for and others desperately in of need
of help.
“We’re very proud of what Kelly’s golf tournament has done over the year’s for our
local Outer Banks Community Foundation”, offered Mike Kelly, the tournament’s
founder and local entrepreneur, but in light of the reports coming out of the western
part of our state, it became immediately obvious this was the right thing to do”.
Over the year’s Kelly’s Golf Classic has raised in excess of over $400,000 to benefit
the community foundation, and annually draws local teams as well as teams across
North Carolina and out of state. “We had no idea when we originally came up with the
idea that we would receive so much support”, commented Mr, Kelly, and it has become
a real source of pride for our organization to see teams returning year after year
to support this community. It is our hope they’ll embrace our reaching out to help our
fellow Carolinians in their time of need.”
This year’s tournament is slated for October 21st at Sea Scape Golf Course in Kitty
