Killeen special event center volunteers for Hurricane Harvey

Preliminary Overview:

The local motorcycle community teaming up with Educated Angels for Operation Hurricane Harvey Relief Project at The Killeen Special Events from August 30, 2017-September 11, 2017 is proud to say.

The Central Texas Community has more than supported those in need. Together we have collected:

$5,143.20 in monetary donations
$521,375 estimated in in-kind donations of food, clothing, baby goods, water, and house household products
Totaling over an estimated $525,000 of relief for victims of Hurricane Harvey

Together as a community we have had over 2,800 volunteers, averaging 4 hours per person estimating in over 11,200 volunteer hours

Over 27 restaurants, food truck, or individuals that donated food for over 2,800 volunteers estimating approximately $14,000 in donated in food.

We supported 3 shelter with hurricane evacuees, 5 hotels and numerous evacuees taken in by families.

Distributing basic needs to 698 evacuees from Brazoria County that came to The Killeen Special Events Center

Transported goods to several effect areas by means of a semi, a moving truck and over 10 trucks and trailers

Having the support of Operation Airdrop, 62 flights delivered over 27,000 lbs of needed goods to those in need in 6 days

Through this these efforts we are proud to be apart of such a giving community!

As of tonight we are closing our doors for anymore shopping. We are now focusing on getting all the stuff shipped or flown down to the areas as needed. We still need all volunteers on deck to help until the last box is gone. We are still taking baby food and formula, diapers, wipes, and all cleaning supplies as well as tools and shovels, rakes, trash bags, work gloves, rubber gloves, masks, laundry soap, brooms, dust pans, and rubber boots of all sizes. Please do not bring paper supplies. Thank you for all your help and support and continue the love for our fellow neighbours.

Ok so I do know we said we are cutting off donations as of Saturday but we will be opening up for donations for the following items only, mops, buckets, cleaning wipes, brooms, cleaning sprays, rubber gloves, working gloves, heavy duty trash bags, shovels, hammers, trash cans, paper towels, and anything that will help with the clean up efforts. Also dry food, non perishable food item, dog food and cat food, Thank you in advance for everything you all have been doing.

Okay so we are going to start ramping things down we still need volunteers to come out tomorrow morning to help get everything ready to go. We will be taking donations up until 8 p.m. tomorrow after that if we need anything it will be specific items and put on this wall. We would like to thank all the volunteers for all of their time and service that they have done and helping Texas get these items together and get them shipped to the evacuees who need it in this time of need. were still need boxes and tape as well.

It has been brought to our attention that the Convoy that is coming up on the weekend is only stopping at City Hall to pick up donations from City Hall in Nolanville. We need any and all donations that you can get to Nolanville City Hall for that trip. The donations that are being taken to the Killeen special Event Center already have a way to Houston and throughout the community. This will be taking place on Saturday. If anybody has questions to this because city hall is only open till 5 you can reach me at 254-393-8264 and I can give more details on were to drop off after hours for this event on Saturday.

We have had an overwhelming response of people sharing compassion for the recent devastation and willing to assist. Thank you. At this time current needs have all been filled. We will continue to update our page with updates.

64-hour minimum week
Insurance and travel reimbursement available
$100 extra shift incentive available
Hospital provided housing: Must be willing to sleep at hospitals and hotels on cots
Weekly pay: $3,479 plus sleep time

I would like to remind people that the county may be shutting things down but we are members of the motorcycle community and we will make sure that we put a post up on this page when we decided that we are going to ramp down on taking donations. We are nothing more than members from the motorcycle community, Christian motorcycle association, Freedom Road biker Church, Silent Heros and many more. We are nothing more than volunteers trying to help our fellow Americans. We still need help and please, please bring boxes.

Hey guys! Just wanted to give an update. We have a convoy of combat veterans coming in this weekend to pick up donations from Nolanville. city hall and take to Houston. Anything you could spare would be greatly appreciated! We need diapers, baby food, formula, baby bottles, clothes, new socks and underwear, shoes, plus size clothing, non perishables. We would like to remind you that this is nothing more than a page that some of us volunteers got together and set up and we are trying to get information to you as it comes to us. Killeen special event center volunteers for Hurricane Harvey

We are looking for volunteers who can help deliver food to the Evacuee shelters with the Salvation Army!

We have 20 spots per shift available. Volunteers will be required to deliver meals in their own vehicle to the evacuee shelters, and then to assist with serving food.

Shift times are 6:30 AM-9:00 AM, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Please visit www.salvationarmy.org/ to sign up to volunteer.

We would like to thank everyone who has come out and helped with their support and donations and their time.

We at this time have just about all of the support and help that we need except for we are needing help with people signing up to go to the Salvation Army and help serve food.

They are still taking donations at the Vista Community Church 7051 stonehollow Temple Texas and also at Champions Beauty Bar 911 Suite A1 Trimmier Road in Killeen Texas.

Anyone who is interested in signing up for serving food at the Salvation Army they are serving food from 6:30 to 9 a.m. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. if interested in signing up please comment on this post and we will contact you to schedule volunteers!

Important donations that we are still looking for are socks shoes coloring books crayons and colored pencils and a stuffed animals as well. They can be dropped off at the Vista Church.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all so much for your support! Currently we are reducing operations at the Expo Center as the intake center prepares to relocate. Please do not bring donations to the Expo Center!

If you are looking to volunteer, please continue to watch this page for opportunities and respond to posts you would like to sign up for. Otherwise, volunteers are always useful at the Vista Community Church sorting donated goods and preparing them/transporting them to the shelters! Also, you can contact [email protected] for volunteer placements in the Killeen shelters.

We DO have a need for bilingual volunteers, however we aren't sure where or when yet. Please be patient as we iron out those details. When you see a post about bilingual volunteers, please reply!

For donated goods we are accepting all non-perishable items, gently used clothing, supplies, children's toys and books, etc at the Vista Community Church located at 7051 Stone Hollow Dr in Temple.

For volunteers with medical licenses- please contact the EOC health center at 254-933-5596 to sign up. Your credentials must be verified prior to your placement, and they will have the most effective placements for your talents!

We are experiencing some delay times with checking and responding the page because we have been inundated with offers of donations and volunteers. It is incredibly humbling to experience. I can guarantee we are responding as quickly as possible. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!

We are getting the first busses of evacuees in to the Expo Center and many people do not have shoes and socks. We need shoes and socks of every size, men, women, and children. If you would like to donate shoes or socks, you can drop them off at the Expo Center!

We are also running short on coloring books for children and stuffed animals.
