Last Friday was the wedding day for the Adventure Elopement I had the honor to be a part of. and David were truly lovely and were such a fantastic couple to work with. Seeing their huge smiles and lingering glances re-solidified why I love weddings and couples so much. I love....LOVE❤
And their dog😉

What a lovely day for meeting a new couple and their parents (while socially distanced) and coming up with a new plan for a late summer wedding with socially distanced seating.

I love an at home wedding and having a vineyard as a backdrop only makes it better.

And, I even had a pair of gold chiavari chairs in my truck from 307 Events and Tents so they would know exactly what one of their options would be.

Cannot wait for J+C to get married in September ♡

Today would have been the first wedding of the 2020 season and like everyone else my clients had to make alternative plans. I am happy they still chose to get married today with immediate family at home and will have their big celebration next year, but sad to not be there with them in person. Thank you MAWBY for sending a wonderful bottle of bubbles in time for them to enjoy this evening and Cheers to H+F♥

I am so pleased to announce the winners of our Adventure Elopement Giveaway!

Carrie & Jason's original wedding was planned for New Orleans in March and had to be postponed just days before their flights were scheduled to depart. They have been paired with our Little Dipper Adventure.

Miranda & David's original wedding was planned for the Royal Oak Farmer's Market and was postponed due to Covid. They have been paired with our North Star Adventure.

All will be revealed on The Four News the week of June 8th. The adventure commences June 19th and we can't wait to share all that the vendor teams have in store!

A few years ago my sweet couple were informed if they went ahead with their plan to have their rehearsal dinner at the house they rented, the neighbors would most certainly involve the authorities. I immediately offered an alternative space..at my parent's home! In a matter of 2 hours, with the help of an amazing group of their friends, we set up tables, chairs, and linens in their backyard. We figured out the outdoor sound system for great music and the food truck arrived and setup in the driveway! We did a quick ceremony walk thru in their front yard and enjoyed tacos and ice cream under a beautiful summer sky in Northern Michigan!
I am committed to doing anything I can to make your day memorable and stress free♡

Look what arrived in the mail for me today!!

recently started a pen pal program to 'connect people and create a sense of community through this weird time.'

And what a weird time it is. Learning new ways to shop, communicate, clean and sanitize..I have gone from being sad for my 2020 clients who already have or may have to postpone to being super excited for 2021 clients who are just at the beginning stages of planning their day. I'm desperately missing my family and friends I used to see on a regular basis and worried about the ones who are at risk. I am sensitive to others and always interested in people and yearn for new friends and connections.

When I first read about this last week I thought the idea was beautiful and I immediately signed up. I received a box of 10 cards, envelopes and stamps with the name and address of my new...friend! I admit I danced and shimmied a little when I got the box with my name beautifully printed on the top! I also briefly thought about FB stalking my person but quickly decided against it..I am very excited to get stated...

One of my best good buddies has spent the winter on a super cool project! She converted an old canoe into an AMAZING bar! The canoe is lined with a strong, water-resistant material and can hold ice, cans, and bottles. Guests can easily serve themselves or your trusty bartender can also serve from it. You can easily add additional signage and there is even a spot for bottle tops! My favorite part is the option to cover the top with a charcuterie board and display your menu on the hanging chalkboard!

I cannot begin to imagine the emotional roller coaster couples must go through when it comes to the difficult but necessary decision to reschedule their big day.

This is a love note I received from a client last summer. The day of their wedding July 20th, an INSANE storm rolled through Northern Michigan! The storm did not last long and soon after the skies were clear..I was literally setting the last place setting when the first guests arrived.

Kat and Nick and no idea that just four hours before, I was standing in ankle deep water with a pump! Myself and the other vendors onsite all worked together to dry out the tent, wipe down tables and chairs and I had my assistant go to the laundromat to dry 8 linens that got wet.

My job as your planner is to not only advocate and support your vision but to also anticipate....let's call them "blips" and immediately come up with solutions to keep those visions alive. I want you to have a memorable day and spend time with your new spouse and your family and leave the rest up to me!

M+T chose to incorporate the ancient Celtic ritual of handfasting in their wedding ceremony. Handfasting is a declaration of intent where the couple clearly states they are marrying on their own free will.

There were 4 cords each symbolizing a different element that were draped over their hands and tied together to signify their separate lives joined by love and trust into one life.

The first binding was made with the color blue, symbolic of Water, so that their love would flow and fill them to their depths.

The second binding was made with the color green, symbolic of Earth, so that their love would be wise and nurturing and their happiness abundant.

The third binding was made with the color red, symbolic of Fire, so that their love would be bright and passionate.

The fourth binding was made with the color white, symbolic of Air, so that their love would be as limitless as the sky and filled with spirit.

I love it when couples choose their ceremony to truly reflect their personalities and what is in their hearts. T+M made sure their ceremony was very unique to them and even chose to have one of their very close friend officiate♡

1 month into Quarantine 2020 and I am thinking about how we are all beginning to settle in and accept not seeing the friends and family we are used to seeing. Weddings and events are being postponed and my clients are understandably upset, sad, and confused. I am trying hard to focus on the positive and I wonder if this is an opportunity for us to get back to what truly matters in this life: family, love, connection.

Last summer I met G+M and they wanted to have someone there to finalize the details for their wedding and execute the timeline. They wanted their family and closest friends (who are also family, right?) to be with them on their day. They chose to get married at the home of M's parents because they wanted to keep things small and intimate so that they could talk to each guest and CONNECT! Their love is beautiful and when I think of a , this is exactly what I imagine. Excellent food, a stunning location, crystal clear Lake Michigan water, and a fluffy dog♥

This gray and dreary day has me really struggling with social distancing. I miss lunching with friends, taking a random trip to Target, cocktail hour in public...

So, I've been reflecting on the wonderful memories of my one of my friends whose wedding I had the privilege of officiating! S&J were soooo ooey-gooey with their vows and their wedding song was beautifully sung! Seriously, I had huge crocodile tears running down my face...😭Lol...Their wedding was personal and intimate- someone even made their own cake! I love her energy in this photo♡ Be well, yall!

The only good thing about self-quarantine is that I am forced to focus on things like social media for my business!

Looking through photos from last season and K&B were such a fun and easy-going couple who did not take themselves too seriously! There was a cousin who could not make it, so they had a cardboard cutout of her- hahaha.. They just wanted to get married to one another and celebrate and have a great time with their guests! And I was obsessed with the back of K's dress!! All day long they laughed and joked with their family and friends.. and one of the COOLEST grandma's I have ever met♥

I ordered glasses from Custom Stems last Thursday and was told it would probably be 2 weeks.. They emailed today and said my glasses were ready and they look AMAZING! The other company I was going to go with was going to charge me over $500 for fewer glasses and could not guarantee my delivery date! People often ask me what my favorite part of the wedding day is and it's so hard for me to answer that question because it really depends on the client. Spending the better part of a year (sometimes more), working with someone, it is easy to love what they love and get so excited for something as simple as certain dessert or an antique brooch that has been worn by every bride for 70 years. But, the thing that gives me all the feels is a first look! I love the anticipation and excitement and honestly, I think it helps with nerves for the couple to see one another and take a minute. When I am walking to the first look with a bride or groom, they always ask if they look okay and take several extra breaths... which is always sort of funny to me because you are about to marry YOUR PERSON who will think you look breath-taking!
Andrew was overcome with emotion when he saw Annika, I will never forget it♥

It was a clear and sunny day last summer when Mica and Tim got married at Garvey Family Wedding Barn. They are such a laid back couple and I loved the personal and meaningful details they incorporated into their day such as sending a flower to Grandma so that she could have it during Facetime from the East coast... or standing in the center of dried rose petals from her parents' anniversary...or Tim having a special delivery of one of his favorite beers from Marquette and a video game setup of classic video games..and croquet!!
And one of the best parts...her dress had POCKETS!!

I have admittedly been awful when it comes to social media specifically for my business. I tell myself every year, this year will be different and then for some reason I become... lazy... intimidated... and have no idea what to post or say...I think I focus too much on what other people will think and trying to be different, all while muttering under my breath, 'Who cares what anyone else thinks if it makes me happy.'- It is just so silly because I am a social person and want to get to know people better and I want to be a better and smarter woman who is inspired by and maybe inspires other amazing women....so...

Why did I choose to plan weddings? I believe weddings are exciting and lively and incredibly special! I truly love working with couples and watching them communicate and work together and oftentimes, grow more as a couple throughout the planning process. I love getting to know the couples and their family and friends. I am a huge observer and love to people watch (in a non-creepy way- HAHA) so being on the outside of these relationships and watching the dynamics is quite interesting to me. Seeing pure happiness on the face of a couple is seriously, the best!! I usually miss the first look photos between a couple, but on the rare opportunity I get to observe, it is one of the most beautiful moments one can ever witness! I love watching how newly married couples almost seem to have subtle affection towards one another, especially during toasts! I love watching couples reminisce with their friends from school when a certain song comes on and they dance like they did back in the day! I love doing everything I can do so that a couple has the memorable and meaningful day that they always wanted. I love following my clients on social media and seeing them post wedding and starting their life with a home and eventually babies! It really is about the connections..
