A reverse journey of the arid floating desert section of the exhibit 2024. This was the section I mainly worked on. With some of the photos you might be able to see what an obstacle course it can be to maneuver, and how many designers are involved in one section.

Time to share some photos of the exhibit from this year’s . The title of the display is "Connected, A Floral Legacy". This center section is the canopy, that joins the bamboo tropical gardens and the arid floating desert islands. Check out the textural details and weaving on each of the unique hanging designs. I’m grateful to be invited each year to work next to, and learn from talented floral designers from around the world.

Hooray, it's that time of year again. The opens this Saturday. I'm lucky enough to again be a part of the team. Always a fantastic floral education. This year the team is creating the entrance to the fresh floral exhibits.
Looking forward to seeing the Convention Center transform each day this week. Spring in full bloom indoors...a teaser to when the outdoors will follow suit.

If you ask me my preferred color palette, I'll say that I'm drawn to rich jewel tones. But I can find beauty in many color stories.
What do you see here? Mauve, ivory, white, and sage green is one of the most popular color schemes for weddings. The soft tones are romantic, without being too girlie. A pretty neutral to play against the joy of a celebrated moment.
For me, I feel serenity, yet a little sadness. I see winter keeping Mother Nature's landscape barren and gray; her creatures in slumber. I know rest is important, but as a business owner, it's hard to not feel guilty. I remind myself that it's OK to pause, reflect, and rest. It's more than OK; it's important.

In these trying times of turmoil and uncertainty, it's important to take inventory of the things we do have and the people in our lives.
I am thankful for my small family and friends, that I wish I could see more often.
I'm grateful for my customers and couples that trust me with their important life events, affording me the opportunity to earn a living doing what I love.
I am appreciative of my staff (, , ) that gave my little studio the ability to create so much beauty.
I know how lucky I am to have local flower farmers ( ) grow special blooms to make my designs unique.
Despite the continuing pinch to the business and personal pocketbook, I am still able to afford a warm, dry home and a full cupboard.

I really enjoy pairing bright bursts of unexpected color against paler neutral tones. Then adding texture with contrasting lacy blooms, frilly petals, line flowers, berries, and several types of greenery. I always say that my floral designs are a scavenger hunt of unusual specimens. Needless to say, I'm not a minimalist.

When you are a florist and can't bear to throw away wedding florals from the night before. Might as well decorate the entrance to the studio. The first photo shows 2 foam free sign swags creating a table wreath. The second photo is one of the arbor arrangements in an empty planter. Proper flower conditioning makes all the difference!
Shout out to local growers for their gorgeous dahlias, hydrangea, branches and greenery: and for the roses and spray roses.

My mom took me to her favorite town, Dinkelsbuhl, Germany. I can see why she is so fond of it. Medieval fairytale architecture, cobblestone streets, independently owned shops, lots of al fresco dining... And no crowds!! The town originated in the 900's (not a typo) and most of the buildings are from the 1600's.
Bonus, she has good friends she has been visiting here for the past 20+ years, so we have been enjoying the town like locals. Bittersweet though as I have replaced Dad as Mom's travel companion. So I've been enjoying the weiner schnitzel and heffeweisen in his memory.

My favorite part of our tour was the Monet home and gardens in Giverny (pronounced Gee-ver-nee). Beautifully manicured, lush gardens full of blooms and pollinators

many interesting tropicals that I haven't had the opportunity to photograph.

Spending the holiday week learning from highly respected floral industry leaders. My first and I get to be an ambassador, working behind the scenes with such talented and genuinely still excited about their craft designers. I was stunned to learn there are 3 tractor trailers at the docks, full of fresh flowers and greenery from around the globe.

I'm honored each year to play a part on the team each year. The exhibit is based on the bower bird, native to New Zealand and Australia, that creates an architectural love tunnel and decorates it with trinkets that it finds in the forest and neighboring communities. It's not uncommon to find pen and bottle caps, broken glass or plastic utensils as decorations, as humans encroach closer to their habitat. The bird will call and dance and pick up the treasures to lure the ladies into his bower. One of my favorite creatures!!

Last week we had the joy of creating this fireplace installation for an intimate wedding at Villa Pazzetti, one of unique venues. It was a dramatic backdrop for the couple to sit in front of, and a photo opportunity for them and guests. Our goal was to mimic a lush springtime garden. Thank you for your help.

During your consult, ask your florist to include florals and greenery for your photographer to include when capturing your wedding details. It's a small investment for an everlasting snapshot of the items you took so much care to personalize your special day.
