Grief is not just about mourning loss—it’s about retelling a book of memories, each page filled with moments we didn’t realize were special until they became the ones we’d give anything to relive. It’s about remembering the way laughter echoed in a room, how a pet’s excited tail wag greeted us after a long day, the warmth of a hug that seemed ordinary at the time but now feels like gold.

Too often, we let days pass as if they’re endless, assuming there will always be more time, more conversations, more chances to say, “I love you.” But grief reminds us that time is never guaranteed. It teaches us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary—to make every walk with a pet a cherished adventure, to turn every meal with a loved one into a moment worth remembering.

Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual on how to handle loss, and there’s no perfect way to cope. Some days we carry it well, and other days it feels too heavy. We stumble, we break, we get back up, and we do our best—even when our best doesn’t feel like enough. And that’s okay.

We can’t stop loss, but we can live in a way that leaves us with fewer regrets. Take the longer walks, have the extra conversation, show up, love fully, and never let a moment pass without knowing you’ve done enough. Because in the end, the memories we carry should be filled with love, not just longing
