On January 27, Consul-General Watanabe paid a courtesy call on Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs at the Knoxville City-County Building. Consul-General Watanabe thanked the County for its support of Japanese businesses and cultural events in Knox County, and requested continued support for the safety of Japanese residents and development of Japanese businesses in the area.

Prior to meeting with Mayor Jacobs, Consul-General Watanabe toured some of Knoxville's landmarks, including the Blount Mansion, the birthplace of the State of Tennessee, and the World's Fair Park, the site of the 1982 Knoxville World's Fair in which Japan also participated. Consul-General Watanabe also visited โ€œMuroran Drive,โ€ named after Muroran, a sister city of Knoxville. Knoxville and Muroran became sister cities in 1991.

๐ŸŒŸ Thank You, DENSO! ๐ŸŒŸ

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to DENSO for their continued support of the Asian Culture Center of Tennessee and our mission! ๐Ÿ™ DENSO has been a longtime sponsor, helping us promote cultural appreciation, education, and engagement within the community.

Japanese investments have played a crucial role in Tennesseeโ€™s growth. As of May 2024, Japanese-based companies have invested approximately $20.5 billion in Tennessee, making Japan the stateโ€™s top country for foreign direct investment (source: TNECD.COM).

This remarkable investment includes over 200 Japanese-owned facilities, providing employment for nearly 51,000 Tennessee residents (source: GMIPOST.COM). Companies like DENSO, AISIN, and JTEKT continue to strengthen Tennesseeโ€™s economy while fostering cultural and educational ties between Japan and our community.

We are proud to be part of this growing connection and look forward to continuing this partnership for years to come! ๐Ÿ’–
