Proof that I decorated for Christmas. Life has been a roller coaster lately and I really enjoy sharing pretty pictures with you and telling a story. But I don’t have many stories to tell lately nor pretty pictures. So. For the sake of imperfect action, I wanted to share that I did indeed decorate and celebrate Christmas. It was a really good Christmas. I had a co-worker over for dinner along with family. We had lots of gifts under the tree. I made some gifts this year! I’m slowly getting my groove back. I didn’t, however, send cards nor really reach out to anyone for the holiday. I’m sorry about that. I have been struggling hard over here but I am determined to make 2025 be the year that I find myself and figure out what I want. I’ve always been more concerned about other people and what makes them happy. Plus I have really been working on myself these past few years, I will continue to do so but this is the year that I really focus on me. A gap year, if you will. So. Stay tuned. I am committed to imperfect action. Happy New Year and all that jazz. xoxo

I’m starting to set intentions for 2025. My seems to be ‘cozy’. I am starting to write about it over on my website. I see coziness in my everyday life and how I can share that with others. I am also setting intentions for getting back to being that that I talk about recently. My intention is to step back into being that person who slows down, makes from scratch, grows things, makes things. Most of my Christmas presents are homemade again this year (will share them after the recipient has opened them). But. As I was looking around my house recently I see that I am already stepping into those intentions. I’ve had some wonderful conversations with those closest to me lately and they will understand what these pictures represent. I believe in the power of specking your intentions into existence and that is what I am doing. I will be able to reveal more about my intentions and the coziness that these pictures mean, and bring, to my life. All in due time.

I am also taking the next two weeks ‘off’. Which just means I will be less available until after the new year. It’s a good time for slowing down, reflecting, and stepping into this new year with these new intentions.

I took the dogs for a walk in the woods a couple of weeks ago and stumbled upon this glass bottle. I took a picture of it and then walked away. As I was editing photos today I thought to myself ‘why didn’t you grab it and bring it back with you?’. It would make a nice display item or a flower vase 🤦🏻‍♀️

Can you guess what we’re going to do today, even though it’s cold and raining? Yep. Stay tuned for the results!

I’ve long wanted to collect nutcrackers. I don’t know much about them and I really wanted vintage ones—not mass produced reproductions. So I never bought any. But I was at a resale shop today and saw this gem and just had to get him. He’s so unique and even has a canvas backpack with rope in it! I decided I didn’t care if he was a reproduction or mass produced. He was $6.25 ($25 originally with 75% off). The price was right to start my nutcracker collection!

I still want to do some research to see where he’s from but I couldn’t wait to share him with y’all!

Shared a big update over on the website. It reminds me of the ones I used to post with all the things happening-the struggles, the successes, the good times. I’m also renaming what I do from homesteading to Gentlewoman Farmer. You can read why at the link in my bio.

Good Sunday morning friends! Question for you—what is your favorite thrift store. I am looking to expand outside of the normal KARM/Goodwill here in Knoxville. If you don’t mind sharing, tell me where you antique and thrift. I’ve got some fun plans up my sleeve!

Picture for reference. These glasses are $40 at KARM which seems a bit excessive to me. So. Help a girl find local dealers to support. Or a favorite online dealer. I used to buy vintage scrabble tiles from a fella in the northeast. I lost contact with him, sadly.

I had a photo shoot with Shauna McCoy Photography on Monday and here is a sample of what is yet to come! Y'all. Shauna was so easy to work with and really listened to what I wanted. She followed me around the back yard taking photos, giving me instructions on how to pose and what to do. It was so easy and relaxed! I remember making these cocoa bombs a few years ago. It's a good way to kick off the holiday season and also stay warm! The cold weather has moved into East TN the past few days and I am dreaming of ways to stay warm, other than wearing all my knitted woolens at once. What is your favorite drink to keep you warm on these cold fall mornings (because it IS not even winter yet!). xoxo
