The sky is the limit at Ironwood

On the left you’ll see a plane shot of the event center grounds and on the right a drone shot from Scott Anderson, who we want to thank for the awesome picture.

As some may know, Ironwood staff was locked out of our original Facebook account, which reached 3.4k followers. For a small business that is an amazing reach and took us years to build.

Behind the Scenes

Each week, my staff members, Zoey Dearth, Taylor Wamhoff, and I work hard at preparing the buildings and grounds for your special event.

I thought it would be a fun change of pace to teach the girls how to trim trees and run the loader tractor. We had a blast. I was so proud of them.

The rows of birch trees the girls are trimming are 1/10 of a mile long. This area has become one of Ironwood’s favorite spots for a unique photo opportunity.

If you don’t already know, Ironwood on the Vermillion started out as Coon’s Grove Christmas Trees. in 1997, it was then the start of a wholesale nursery. As the Christmas trees were cut out, the nursery was planted. Eventually, the name changed to Little Vermillion Nursery. After 21 years of being a nursery, Ironwood on the Vermillion Event Center was built.

The birch rows have a special meaning to me. We crawled on our hands and knees planting little seedlings and maintained them year after year. The year they were to be dug and shipped out (2008), the recession hit. It seemed like the world shut down. The wholesale nurseries were hit extremely hard.

Birch trees grow extremely fast and the timing was all wrong. The thought of clearing the field could not even begin to enter my mind. I knew in my heart that one day somebody else would get as much joy out of my birch trees as I have for all these years.
