My last wedding in Virginia! So bittersweet! Delaney and I met through a friend last summer when I was teaching an outdoor yoga class (side note, why I thought my heat-intolerant self was equipped for that is beyond me but I survived 😅). Near the end of the outdoor season, Delaney showed up with a gorgeous engagement ring on her finger and it was pretty much a match made in heaven for both of us because I wanted to be her photographer as much as she wanted me to be her photographer.

Delaney and Derek were married at the gorgeous and we took full advantage of the amazing weather to get some photos outside and with the incredible light the waterside deck offers. While I’ll certainly miss venues like The Lesner Inn, I’m looking forward to seeing what our new home offers for my business!

The most magical wedding 😍 Micah-Ann and Aaron were married this Saturday at Norfolk Botanical Gardens and it was the most stunning of days. From the doting kindness of the entire bridal party to the vows that made everyone cry to the sun peaking through just in time for husband and wife photos, every moment was utter perfection! Congratulations to the Masons!!!

Confession. I have a regret about my wedding day…

I didn’t have a bouquet. And now every time I’m at a wedding I have some mild envy and a bit of frustration with myself for that choice. At the time it was easy. I wasn’t big into flowers, skipping bouquets seemed like a good way to save a few bucks, and I was a DIY bride because I like to plan and design and decorate so I did my table florals myself.

But I really regret this decision. A bouquet is so much more than a bundle of flowers. First and foremost…if you’re nervous about what to do with your hands, bouquets solve that problem. One hand, two hands, doesn’t matter. Bouquet is there for you! Second, bouquets are a simple way to bring your wedding design into your photos. You’re not going to pose with the place cards you made or stand by the cute sign at your cocktail hour, but your bouquet will be with you all day. Last, but certainly not least, bouquets are a great reminder of your day long after it has passed. Even though I didn’t have a bouquet, I still have a soft spot for ranunculus because I used it throughout my florals and I know I’d feel even stronger about it if I had it in a bouquet. Flowers don’t have to last just one day. There are dozens of ways to preserve that beauty from custom paintings to sending it off to an artist who can preserve it creatively.

Long story long, get the bouquet. Don’t skimp on the florals. They will set your day apart and take it from wonderful to breathtakingly magical.

I’ve been radio silent over here for a while because I am no good at secrets, and this one had to be kept close for a bit. Luckily, we are more than 3 months in and little one seems to be thriving! We are very excited to be growing our little family and can’t wait for little one’s arrival this fall!

This does mean that I’ll be taking a good bit of time off during the fall busy season. With the move I was already not taking on many fall weddings, but now I have an associate photographer lined up to cover the ones I do have booked (shoutout to for being the best second/associate/friend in the biz - she also took these pics). So I’m really looking forward to taking it easy after the move for a few months as we adjust to being a family of four in a new house in a different state with Kyle having a completely different work life from what he has now.

I’m ready for things to slow down for a bit, but so incredibly grateful to be bringing another tiny human into the world!
