The Origins of Our Dish
The paella is a traditional Spanish dish, that is deeply rooted in Louisiana history and culture. Although not widely known, the paella is where the Cajun Jambalaya originated from. When the Spanish came they tried to recreate the Paella, but due to the lack of ingredients found in Louisiana at the time, they had to use substitutes found in their new home. That is how the Jambalaya came to become a staple in Louisiana culture, especially in Cajun-Creole cuisine. Therefore our name, Cajun Paella.
