Let me get real. If you know me, you know my battles with social media. Very much so a love hate relationship. Over the last month I did a test with myself. Did a week on and then a week off with social media. It was crazy how my mood, mental, emotional, and more would change. One morning while walking I listened to a podcast from John Mark Comer and a couple quotes hit me.

--the mind is the portal to the soul, and what you fill your mind with will shape the trajectory of your character.”

----Is the way I’m living going to turn me into the kind of person I want before God? the time is always now to make whatever drastic decisions need to be made to alter my life to become a person of love and joy and peace.

Filling my time and my mind with social media was just not leading me to a great place. I don't know why social media bothers my inner self so much but I had to make the change.

Why I never fully did it before: 1. Work 2. the fear of missing out.
Well I found a solution to number 1. Having social media only on my desktop so I can schedule posts and keep marketing for my business. Making sure the social aspect of my work/photography is not compromised.

Which left me with no excuse to deleting it. Just left with the whole "missing out". I admit, it helps you connect with people but the more I realized, the more i only saw ads. I never saw posts or anything that kept me connected to others. I only saw celebs, espn/ sports, and etc; It was never my peoples post I would see. So I knew I would have to be intentional with loved ones.

Man, has it felt good deleting it. I hardly know where my phone is sometimes. It makes me be more intentional in my friendships. It gives me more free time to bother my husband (poor him). It has given me so much productivity....like crazy productivity and focus.

Most importantly, it has taken away the distraction of not spending time with Jesus. Instead of turning to my phone when bored, I pray, I read, or i just quiet my mind.

Well enough with this rant. Maybe my next scheduled post won't be so long. Until next time friends.
