Today!! Sunday, June 9th, we continue the celebration at SWLA PRIDE FEST at Castaways - 4th Annual for family day!

🌈 Event Details:
🕐 Time: 1 pm - 6 pm
💰 Cover at the door: $20 | All ages welcome (12 & under enter free)

🎉 Highlights of the Day:
🎧 1 pm: Kick-off with DJ EJ downstairs - Vendors open! Explore our diverse array of vendors, enjoy delicious food, and connect with the community. Plus, take a plunge at the dunking booth, engage with allied organizations, and join in on exciting games and activities.
👑1:30-3 pm: Drag Bingo upstairs (18+) with fun prizes!
💃 3 pm: Get ready for an incredible Drag Show hosted by the fabulous Emcee Erica Matthews. Featuring performances by Mahogany Campbell, Keisha Seaux Phynne, Santana A Savage, & Stephanie Stevens!
👠 4 pm: It's time for the Catwalk Contest! Categories include junior, teen, and adult. Prizes and trophies await the winners!
🎉 5 pm: Don't miss the grand finale of the Drag Show!
😊 6 pm: Festival concludes - Thank you for joining us in spreading love and unity!

Parking is free -- Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets, sunscreen, and swim trunks! It's a full day of fun in the sun with our splash pad available to keep you cool!

Couple days late, but we wanted to share this bit of q***r history from WorkingClassHistory on Instagram:

On this day, 24 May 2014 the campaigner known as the "Rosa Parks of the gay community", Stormé DeLarverie, died aged 93 in Brooklyn. Born to a Black mother and a white father, she is credited by some as sparking the Stonewall rebellion, as according to some eyewitnesses and her own account she was the "New York butch" who was arrested and attacked by police. Bleeding from a head wound, she began to fight back and called to the crowd "Why don't you guys do something?" When she was thrown into a police van the crowd erupted and the Stonewall rebellion began.

DeLarverie played a leading role in the LGBT+ community in New York's Village area. As well as working as a drag king, an emcee, bouncer and bodyguard, she carried a gun and patrolled the streets, protecting other le****ns from street harassment or assault, and also raised money for survivors of domestic violence.

Decades later, the events of June 28, 1969, have been called "the Stonewall Riots". However, DeLarverie was very clear that "riot" is a misleading description:
