Hello all,
After 5 1/2 year of owning Wow Weddings, I experienced a first this weekend that I don't wish on any business owner, or in fact anyone that spends their valuable time working to provide for themselves or their families. It took this entire weekend being overly disappointed, for me to finally sit down today and reflect back on my 5 1/2 years of owning Wow Weddings and all of the good things that have come along with it. I truly have been nothing but overly GRATEFUL and fortunate to have the absolute best clients, that truly support me and my business, and value the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Running a small business isn't for the faint of heart, and I think any business owner would agree with me on that. While it comes with many positives and rewards, it also comes with its' challenges. It's time away from family and friends, it's missing fun experiences because you are booked, it's long nights and weekends, it's communication devices that never quit going on off, it's the constant anxiety of making sure you aren't making mistakes and you are being as perfect as possible for your clients. It's the constant focus on your finances and learning to adjust to prices sky rocketing in the economy, but doing your best to hold prices affordable for clients. It's making sure you are always doing the next best thing in order to keep your doors open. The list goes on and on.
Being in the event industry, everything takes countless hours in order to ensure that event runs smoothly and everything is ready to go. None of my decor magically shows up clean and set out with no preparation behind the scenes. It takes major commitment to each and every client to ensure they get 100% of my time and focus. It consists of multiple phone calls and meetings, assisting in designing of event decor ideas, COUNTLESS hours of prep work to ensure all items are pressed, cleaned, and put together. It takes hours for set up, tear down, and so much more.
Committing to a client, working hours for discussions - meetings- and notes, and preparing items for an event, to then be left hanging with no communication until the night before an event, is not an inconvenience. It is a service completed without being paid, it is a date that is held that is no longer able to be offered to another client, it is hours of time spent working away from my family, it is income that was relied on in order to pay this month's bills.... it is disheartening.
This has been more than just an "inconvenience" for me, and the feelings I have had over this last week have left me feeling discouraged. The last thing I have ever wanted to do was put a policy in place, making other clients who value me and my business, feel they are being targeted... but unfortunately, I do have to act on this to ensure it does not happen again. If you have made it this far, I apologize for the rambling, but my emotions may have gotten the best of me🫣
To any current and future clients, if you could please read - i would GREATLY appreciate it!
Effective on any rental or full service contract booking, a
cancellation policy will now be implemented.
🎄For ANY service booked - any cancellation made ONE MONTH prior to your event, will result in a 50% charge of your total bill.
❄️RENTAL SERVICES ONLY - any cancellation made 2 weeks (or less) prior to your event, will result in a 100% charge of your total bill. When preparing a rental, the entire job is completed prior to your pickup, so that all items are up to par as you deserve. This is the reasoning to being billed 100% of the invoice, as this service is 100% completed prior to your arrival.
⭐️FULL SERVICE CONTRACT ONLY - any cancellation made 2 weeks (or less) prior to your event, will result in a 75% charge of your total bill. When preparing a full service contract, 75% of the job is completed prior to delivering to the venue for set up and tear down. This is the reasoning to being billed 75% of the invoice.
I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but i truly am so grateful for those who understand the reasoning behind this! I value all clients that continue to support my small business and understand all that it takes to keep my doors open. If you are a current client and have any questions at all - PLEASE reach out!
Happy Holidays to All 🖤
