Coaches,

This fall we are excited to bring WAAAM into a building stage by putting together a fall season for the Novice wrestlers. This season will run from November 1st thru Dec 20. There would not be any tournaments on Thanksgiving weekend.

We would like to run tournaments in Grand Rapids, Flint, Lansing/Jackson, Kalamazoo, and Central Michigan areas. This will be a new scheduled season for fall that had a lot of positive talks from coaches.

We are looking forward to getting our feet wet but will need clubs to support.

Cost is a yearly cost to kids and clubs for insurance. Clubs won’t need to re-up for spring
WAAAM. NOR, DO THE KIDS NEED TO RE-DO INSURANCE.

COST is $20.00 for each wrestler (one time fee for the year) $75.00 for the club for the year.

Tournament fee is $10.00. Schools running tournaments will charge $5.00 admission.

The ages would be for 6th grade and under.`

Divisions will be: 8-under, 9/10, and 11/12 .

- This would be for Novice only with 3 yrs or less on experience.

- Each wrestler would get three matches each night unless a scratch occurred.

- Weights would be blocked into 4 man groups.

Tournament would take place Friday nights from 6-9 pm.

There would not be any big tournament at the end this year.

Clubs would register all kids and actual weights Thursdays by 9:00pm for tournaments.

We are requesting parents e-mails at registration so we can help stay in contact with parents on anything that comes up. You will see it when you register this year.

Positive thoughts:

Short season, keep it positive!
Novice only. We want kids to have a good experience.
MHSAA rules. EXCEPTION, NO HEADLOCKS (head and arm encircled ANYTIME).
Low key environment. Low pressure.
Prepare them to go to the next level.
Gym time in short 3 hrs or less.
There will be NO yelling/arguing with officials. It will not be tolerated.
We feel this could help keep kids in the sport of Wrestling.
We are doing this under MHSAA rules not WAAAM Rules —EXCEPT HEADLOCK
