It is with great sadness that I share the news that Sy Pryweller, a great friend and mentor to many, passed away last night at 7:55 PM. He suffered a debilitating stroke back in January.

He was an outstanding Music educator during his 31 years at Palm Beach State and taught many of Palm Beach County's band directors as they passed through Palm Beach Junior College. He also was quite active in South Florida as a professional musician, both on trumpet and drums, for 60 years.

Sy was also my mentor and best friend during my entire time at Palm Beach State. I'll miss his musical insights as well as his biting sense of humor!

We'll all miss you!

In two weeks..."Montage," featuring the music of David Gibble. Compositions, both old and new will be featured: "Leave It All Behind 'Ya" (Basie-style Blues), "No Passing Zone" (contemporary minor Blues), "Flamango Fantasy" (trombone section feature), "Cold Spring Rd." (contemporary straight ahead), "Sambumbia" (contemporary Rock, straight ahead, Mambo), and a flugelhorn feature on the Beatles' "And I Love Her" are just some of the charts being featured on this concert.
