The Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network is this year’s Charity until Jan 8th (which is my birthday). LMMN protects marine mammals in South Carolina waters, which is a place near and dear to my heart.

Sister photos mean so much to me. They don’t even have to be the formal, looking at the camera. I love when sisters play and get to just be sisters in front of my camera.

Photography is an art, and like any art, it takes practice, dedication, and a willingness to learn and grow.

Practice something new! The scariest thing I hear over and over is “I shoot auto White Balance because I’m scared I won’t be able to move fast enough on a wedding day.” or it’s just easier...And that extends to people with 13 years of experience who make their editing harder because they’re afraid to practice.

Recently, I posted about the old saying ‘practice makes perfect,’ except for in photography, where it’s more like ‘practice makes progress.’

As photographers, we don’t know what we don’t know, and that’s why continued education and mentorship are so important.
After six years as a wedding photographer, I’ve learned that it’s not just about the number of years in the industry. It’s about investing in education and being dedicated to the grind that makes you stand out.

I think this is such a cool way to incorporate florals into your cake design, which I hadn’t seen before. It’s modern and a super safe way to save your top layer without fear of it toppling over. haha which is always a fear of mine. Has anyone ever accidentally tipped a cake??
