Of all the flowers I grow, I think I'm most grateful for anything that blooms this time of year. While I appreciate the forced rest of winter, the darkness and cold followed by the dreariness of spring rains keep me anticipating the first flowers of the year. Featured here are some of my earliest blooms, all of them reliable perennials. While perennials aren't exactly easy, I love the little relationship I get to cultivate with them year after year - especially these spring beauties.
