Before my baby sister was born, her dad died suddenly. This was very hard on all of us to lose him, especially my mom since she was pregnant. It was hard for her to be excited about the baby coming a lot of the time. One of the things that helped was her baby shower.
This is why my older sister, my mom and I have decided to give a little excitement and hope to other pregnant moms and their families who are having a pregnancy under less than ideal circumstances.
We are packing a special box for each mom for items for the new baby and calling it “Baby Shower in a Box”. Each box will contain clothing for the baby, a pack of size 1 diapers, a pack of wipes, baby wash and lotion, a blanket, bibs, bottle, paci, diaper rash cream, a toy for baby, a book for baby, and some special items donated by mama-owned boutiques. All items are brand new.
How can you help?
- Let my mom know of any great deals you see on baby items or clothing (size 0-3)
- Pick up an item or two if you see them and want to help out!
- Pack your own box and turn it in to us! We can give you a container if you need it!
- Come to the Baby Shower event we will have (details to come) where you can bring baby items and pack up boxes while enjoying treats and socializing with others
- Join together with your youth group, Sunday School class, or a group of your friends to bring items and make a box.
- Pray for the mamas and families who will receive the boxes.
Boxes will be given to centers in South Carolina who work with pregnant moms who are single, low-income, or facing other difficulties by providing classes, resources, and counseling. We know they will know the moms who need the boxes the most!
If you would like to pack your own boxes and live out of our area or state, please let my mom know and she can send you a label for the box and a list of items to pack.
