KOH Hammertown, USA

KOH Hammertown, USA Hammertown, USA is the most rapidly growing town in the world, year over year, and is at it's heart,
(52)

Located on Means Dry Lake Bed, Hammertown, USA is Part of the Greater Johnson Valley OHV area, and is home to the Start/Finish of the annual running of the King of the Hammers (KOH) off road race, and the multiple other Hammers races during the week leading up to the KOH race itself, labeled as the worlds most difficult single day race. Hammertown is a town literally built about a week and a half

prior to KOH, and disappears off the map only a few short days after, leaving the Means Dry Lake Bed and surrounding areas as clean or cleaner than when the town was constructed. With residency amassing an estimated 30,000+ citizens, from around the world, in under a week, Hammertown is considered the single most rapid growing town in the world. There are no permanent dwellings, and therefore no permanent residents of Hammertown, however, many still visit multiple times year round, and enjoy the land for it's extreme obstacles, but also it's awe-inspiring beauty. Hammertown elevations range from 4,600 feet at Hartwell Hills to 2,300 feet at Melville Dry Lake. Temperature averages range from 38° low to 100° high during the course of a year, and during the KOH week, they generally range from 38° on cold nights to 60° on warm days. The landscape is punctuated by steep red rocky mountains, rolling hills, open valleys, dry lake beds and sandy washes, and vegetation consists of creosote scrub, annual grasses, wild flowers and Joshua Trees. http://ultra4racing.com/category/king_of_the_hammers

HELP KEEP PUBLIC LANDS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

***This is not an official page for the King of the Hammers. This page was created with the intent of spreading word to keep our trails open, a place to check into, and most importantly, a place for us all to share our adventures and fun. This page IS, however, run by some of the most prominent faces who fight to keep public lands and trails open for everyone!***

If anything has been missed or should be added/corrected, please post up!
