Got up this morning, had a great phone call with a potential client, and then headed to the venue to meet with the flooring guy so that we could just go over the job and make sure he's got it. I realized when I got there that all the flooring is there but the threshold is still at my house, so I thought I just cut through the woods to grab it and bring it.

Big mistake.

All of the rain this weekend made the steep part of the hill really greasy, so, I made it about halfway up the hill, and that was it. When I tried to back down I slid sideways a little, and ended up pointing toward the trees so I tried to go forward and that didn't work and then I thought, "well I'll just back up and squeeze through those two trees back there and zip zam zoom, done."

I didn't cut the wheel hard enough, and I ended up with one of the trees right off my bumper, so I went to pull forward so I could wiggle my way through there, and my truck wouldn't go forward because – mud.

Flooring guy has entered the chat.

He has a four-wheel-drive Dodge so we thought he could just pop me out of there, easy Peezy.

There's nowhere on my truck on the front end to hook a tow rope. So, we tried wedding boards under the tires, finding other ways to get traction, and then we decided we're probably going to have to take down the tree behind me. It's not a big tree, maybe five or 6 inch diameter. If we take it down low to the ground I can just back right over the stump.

Makes total sense.

It took a while to cut the tree down, because we were using a DeWalt battery operated chainsaw, but we finally got it, close to the ground.

Not close enough.

My truck frame got hung up on the stump, so we spent the next two hours figuring out how to get the truck off of the stump. The caveat being, it got hung up where it's modified for my wheelchair, and there's other things under there that we didn't want to break, so we couldn't just hook up to it and drag it off of there like a normal truck.

But we got it.

He's coming back tomorrow for the Floors, and there's a 40% chance that I learned a valuable lesson today. But on the other hand, there's a handy space in that pocket of trees now just in case…

Cool guy, though… I feel like I made a new friend today. But we will see what happens when I get the bill.😂

The "chapel" got a respiff over the weekend (Thank you, TAMMY KAY), and since the building is really too small to do any chapel activities, we have decided to make this a hideaway hang out for the bride and groom for when things get overwhelming and people won't leave them alone. There will be a couch, a cocktail table with a couple of chairs, and some charcuterie.

We have been busy busy getting the venue ready to open! We've been remodeling bathrooms, improving drainage, getting inspections, updating lighting, landscaping, general repairs, etc.! Our target date for tours is October 1.
