My honey and I did some garden touring today, thanks to Northwest Horticultural Society and McMenamins Anderson School. Got to nerd out on plants and saw lots of great creativity. My perfect kind of day!
My mini-meadow
Since I am teaching a Meadowscaping class at Venture Out today, I thought I would show a sweet moment from a few sunny days past in one of my mini Meadow experiment areas.
In this area, I sheet mulched with arborist chips and then spread 1-3 inches of topsoil. I then scattered my own blend of native Prairie seeds from Northwest Meadowscapes.
The first season after sowing yields lots of showy annual species: Douglas Meadowfoam, Baby Blue Eyes, and Sea Blush. If you could see through them you’d notice tiny perennials establishing below: Yarrow, Wooly Sunflower, and Lupine so far. I’m sure more will be revealed as the annuals die back, and will emerge with more fall rain (and maybe more decomposition of the sheet mulch layers).
Enjoy all the autumney goodness of this - my last wedding! Feeling pretty good about going out this way!
Ceremony- a "broken arch". Foam free and all lically-grown, of course!
Sometimes simple is best!

As my wedding season comes to a close, I want to share my gratitude for all the farmers who work so hard to bring all the beautiful flowers and foliage that I am so lucky to design with. Tho I have definitely had my share of product shortages and shipping issues this year, it is the local growers who have had my back with other luscious choices to get me through. Big thanks to all of you, esp those who sell through @seattlewholesalegrowersmarket . Even if I didn't tag you, I appreciate you and your labors!
I am so excited for this book!!! Not only to have been included in it, and to have my work ON THE COVER (yeee!!!), but also just as proof of tribe! There are so many inspiring deaigns by talented designers in here - and I now dream of someday sharing a space with them all and making all sorts of crazy botanical wearables together. Wouldn't that be fun!
.
Stay tuned, I will be celebrating by giving away a copy (via instagram contest)!
.
Thanks to Julia Marie Scmitt for curating and to @wildflower_brands for publishing, and to all my creative partners who helped bring this to life!
Here's a tour of my creation for the Fleurs de Villes show at theNW Flower & Garden Show. Mine is just one of many amazing floral art creations. Come see them live if you can! I will be there Thurs, Sat and Sun presenting on eco-friendly floral design. Come say hi and vote for your favorite display!
.
Big fat thanks to Hendrick's Gin Pacific Place Mall, Washington Floral and Mayesh Wholesale Florists Inc. Seattle for sponsoring the show, and to FDV and the NWFGS for creating the opportunity. It is a rich pleasure to have the chance to make floral art and be able to share it with such a large audience.
.
Especially big thanks to Washington Floral for sourcing sustainably grown and American grown blooms where possible, to Flyboy Naturals for the freeze dried rose petals (in the "feathers"), Ecofresh and Agrawool for their hydration products which are tucked in here and there.
Love this clip from @driftwood_stories What a weekend! I planned and flowered my first Indian wedding - which was then followed the next day by their American wedding (that we also planned and flowered)! It was truly an honor and a privilege to serve such warm and wonderful families. I wore a smile all weekend because it really was so good. Congrats, Ram and Victoria! May the glow between you always endure.

Thrilled to be able to share my passion for making botanical wearables with the readers of Country Gardens Magazine Pick up a copy of this beautiful issue - perfect for summer beach reading or a road trip - and learn how to make a bullion wire base, the very flexible mechanic I use for most of my wearable designs.
Big thanks to collaborator, skilled writer, and fairy godmother Debra Prinzing who brings so many wonderful opportunities to the members of the SLOW Flowers community. If you are a florist who is on the fence about joining the Slow Flowers Society - DO IT. Your membership is a valuable connection to opportunities and education, not just a referral listing! Mine has paid for itself in spades over the years!
