The Regency Exhibition Ball (REB) Committee would like to introduce you to our dance card creator extraordinaire. Scott Davis and his lovely wife and able assistant, Lori, hail to us from the Chicago area. Lori first visited the Regency through Jane Austen in graduate school. After falling in love with English Country Dancing at her first Jane Austen Society of North America conference in 2008, she searched the internet for a period-correct Regency Ball anywhere. Videos of the Regency Exhibition Ball made her long to attend. Scott willingly partnered her to the 2009 REB, and every Ball since. In 2014, Scott asked to help us by making our dance cards. Little did we know how amazing his creations would be! After researching appropriate images and type fonts, Scott then designs dance cards we hope make wonderful keepsakes for our guests.

The 2024 Regency Exhibition Ball will be held on Saturday, November 9th from 6:30-9:30pm. Doors open at 6pm. We will gather at the beautiful, historic Lansing Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capital Ave. in downtown Lansing, Michigan.

Dance instruction is by Ms. Julie Esch. She's accompanied by 3 musicians. Historically appropriate refreshments will be served during intermission.

There are a few tickets still available. Price is $35 each until October 26th. From October 27-November 3rd, ticket prices will be $45. You must purchase your tickets prior to the event. No ticket sales after Noverember 3rd or at the door.
We accept PayPal, Venmo, and check or money order. Please contact Kimberly Lynch for more information at [email protected] or 517-230-8317.

The date is November 9th 6:00-9:30pm. at Lansing Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capital Ave. Lansing, Michigan.

Tickets are still available, but they are going fast. They are $35/person.

The Regency Exhibition Balls (REB) committee would like to introduce you to our lovely and accomplished dance instructress, Julie Esch. Julie has been involved with historical dance for 18 years as a dancer and teaching English Country Dance for 10 years. Julie has been leading dances for the REB since 2017. She will teach us the figures for each dance via demonstrations and walk-throughs, then call the figures as we dance with live music. The program will begin with easier dances, adding new figures as our proficiency with English Country Dance progresses over the course of the evening. She will be accompanied by 3 musicians.

The ball this year is Saturday, November 9th. Doors open at 6:00, with dancing from 6:30-9:30 pm. We will be gathering in the hall of the historic Lansing Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capital Ave in downtown Lansing, Michigan. Light refreshments will be served during the intermission.

This is a formal affair. Our preference is for guests to dress in Regency attire of 1795-1820s. But if guests are unable, we ask that they wear modern formal wear, men in suits and ladies in floor length or tea length dresses.

Tickets are now on sale for $35 each. Payment methods are PayPal, check or money order, and now offering Venmo. Please contact Kimberly Lynch, at [email protected] or text or call at 517-230-8317 for more information.

The 2024 Regency Exhibition Ball committee would like you to have a sneak peak at our venue, Lansing Central United Methodist Church. It is located at 215 N. Capital Ave. It was built in 1880 and located just north of Michigan's state capital in downtown Lansing. The building has remained a historic landmark, retaining the beauty of the architecture of the late 19th century. The hall with it's original stage and wood floor have been wonderfully maintained. It makes a perfect location for historic dances. The ambiance is impressive, indeed!

The ball this year is Saturday, November 9th. Doors open at 6:00, with dancing from 6:30-9:30 pm. Dance instruction is by Julie Esch, accompanied by 3 musicians. Light refreshments will be served during the intermission. Our amazing dance cards (watch for a future post) are a delightful keepsake to remember a visit into the past.

Tickets are now on sale for $35 each. Payment methods are PayPal, check or money order, and now offering Venmo. Please contact Kimberly Lynch, at [email protected] or text or call at 517-230-8317 for more information.

Dear Guests,
The weather reports look grim, so I have consulted Glen, the band, and committee members as to what to do. We have decided to continue on with the ball this evening. Most of the bad weather will be happening after midnight. Please, please, please, use caution in traveling. Stay the night if you have to or if you decide to not join us, in any case use your best judgement and what you are most comfortable. We look forward to seeing you this evening for a wonderful time of dancing! You may arrive early and we will let our soggy travelers in! Thank you, Kimberly for the REB committee.

The History of The Regency Exhibition Balls

The Regency Exhibition Ball began as a dream of Kristin Lawrence. She and her friends would watch BBC’s “Pride and Prejudice” and wish they could attend the ball at Netherfield. In 2006, She and her husband, Charles, put the dream into action and the Regency Exhibition Balls were created. This annual spring event is held at Central United Methodist Church in downtown Lansing, Michigan. This lovely historic building of the 1880’s, adds the right touch of ambiance to allow guests to step back in time. Glen Morningstar and the Olde Michigan Ruffwater String Band provide instruction and music of the dances of the era. Historically accurate refreshments are served to quench the thirst of the dancers. Period attire for 1790-1828 is highly appropriate and most appreciated by all in attendance. Please join us for an evening of elegant enjoyment. The pleasure of your company is requested at “the Netherfield ball”!
