Family Enduro Update
As we get ready for the new riding season, we have some good news and some other information.
We will have 10 events again this year and a couple of new locations. We will start the season in Indiana again, but we will be in Union City, IN. Where is Union City – East of Indianapolis. Thanks to Tracy Green and his friends to work with his neighbors to make trails in western Indiana. In June we will be in Olivet, MI sharing the trail with the Sprint Enduro Series. You get the opportunity to ride both days and camp. Thank you to the Bentwheels MC to be flexible on an event weekend. The entire schedule has been shared in social media and we will have the poster schedule for all off road events in District 14 at the Enduro banquet on February 15th – TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.
What is the other news?
The insurance company providing coverage for all motorcycle events for the AMA has experienced a significant increase in the number of claims and the amount of money paid.
For many years they (AMA and the insurance carrier) determined that the family enduros were recreational events and we benefitted from lower insurance premiums. We were also able to encourage AMA membership, but not require it.
The enduro clubs and promotors are going to see other changes in coverage and premium for the 2025 events. The biggest impact on our family enduro series is that we are now determined to be competitive events (not recreational). The AMA competitive events REQUIRE AMA MEMBERSHIP OF ALL PARTICIPANTS. Yes, all family enduro participants will need to be AMA members.
I am working with the AMA on a couple of their programs for Youth riders (11 and under) and family memberships. Both allow the riders to compete in AMA events.
Youth memberships - $29 for riders 11 and under. Individual card, but no magazine.
Family memberships - $98 for two adults and three people 18 and under
Each family member gets their own card, but only one magazine is sent.
I am also trying to get additional sponsorships to assist with hardship situations to help pay for the membership fees. More information to follow
We look forward to seeing everyone at the banquet on February 15th at the Soaring Eagle casino. If you cannot make it, our first event will be April 12th in Union City, IN. The family enduro in Roselawn, IN on April 26th is changing the format from a timekeeping to restart format. I have safety concerns about using a restart format with the variety of experience and skill we have riding the family enduros and have advised the club that I would let people know about the event, but the Roselawn family enduro will NOT BE IN OUR SERIES.
