The Las Vegas Academy of the Arts is a nationally-recognized, award-winning magnet high school, serving approximately 1,700 students in Clark County, Nevada. Located in the center of the Las Vegas High School Historical District, the Las Vegas Academy serves students from throughout the district in grades 9 through 12. Las Vegas Academy provides students the opportunity to pursue a conservatory in

the areas of dance, music, theater, or visual arts within which majors are available in band, vocal music, dance, guitar, mariachi, orchestra, photography, piano, studio art, technical theatre, theatre, visual design, and world jazz studies. The four conservatories, previously considered majors, were updated in 2017 as an effort to emphasize the academy’s focus on the arts. All students must meet a certain criteria for acceptance: completing an application, auditioning in their chosen performing major, preparing a portfolio, and/or taking an aptitude test.

Visual artists have the unique ability to create using any material or medium. 👨‍🎨 🖌️ Mr. Ibarra's Visual Design students used random donated magazines to create practice sample objects from pieces of photos inside. 🎨 Shading, shadows, and perspective are designed from simple pieces of paper.

A concert not to be missed, "It's Not Winter Yet, Winter is Coming," Jazz concert on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 pm, featuring Pepe Jimenez, former drummer for Carlos Santana, and Fat City Horns and his son Miguel Jimenez, an LVA Alum. As part of the Friends of LVA Master Artist Series, Ben Green and Ohad Mazor worked with dancers on rep and Gaga. Gaga, created by Ohad Naharin, is a movement language based on sensory tasks within improvisational movement for dancers and non-dancers. #lvamasterartistseries

Basketball Club is hosting its first 3 v 3 tournament of this year! 🏀The tournament is after school in the gym from Wed. Nov. 13 to Fri. Nov. 15. October 31 included another celebration🎉 on campus with 170 students recognized for finishing the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year with straight A's. Students received certificates, ate pizza,🍕 played bingo, and drawings for prizes!
