The Las Vegas Academy of the Arts is a nationally-recognized, award-winning magnet high school, serving approximately 1,700 students in Clark County, Nevada. Located in the center of the Las Vegas High School Historical District, the Las Vegas Academy serves students from throughout the district in grades 9 through 12. Las Vegas Academy provides students the opportunity to pursue a conservatory in

the areas of dance, music, theater, or visual arts within which majors are available in band, vocal music, dance, guitar, mariachi, orchestra, photography, piano, studio art, technical theatre, theatre, visual design, and world jazz studies. The four conservatories, previously considered majors, were updated in 2017 as an effort to emphasize the academy’s focus on the arts. All students must meet a certain criteria for acceptance: completing an application, auditioning in their chosen performing major, preparing a portfolio, and/or taking an aptitude test.

As the first semester ended LVA celebrated the Class of 2025 and the upcoming Winter Break with a visit from Love on a Leash and Alliance Therapy dogs during lunch on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024. Students enjoyed the visit with 9 furry friends and their human buddies. #lvaclassof2025

LVA Key Club has a big ask! While you are out thinking of presents, think about picking up a kid's toy to help those who might not have much for the holiday. Key Club is holding a toy drive for our neighbor school, Strong Start Academy, and the CCSD Family Center, #lvakeyclub

LVA Costume students took up the challenge and learned new textile skills with the "The Next Giant Leap: Lunar Quilt Block Challenge" The challenge was issued by Dr. Karen Nyberg, retired astronaut and textile artist, and is hosted by the Kennedy Center. Expert quilters, teachers Dawn Anderson, Liz Bash, and LVA Banker Barbie Badger shared new skills with students as they prepared their designs & entries. Her class received $2,500 in new Samsung technology and they moved on to Round 2 of the competition. #lvastem
