Yesterday evening we held another work day at the rodeo grounds. Lions Rad and Ms. Telie never cease to amaze us. They are always there to help us in whatever they can do. Lions Lupe, Raquel, Keith and Frances did an amazing job yesterday. Lion Freddy brought some his soccer boys to give back to their community. Thank you to all who helped out.

This afternoon the International Fruit Tree Association from Kennewick, Wa. Chose to use the Laton Lions Club to have lunch. It is an honor to know they chose the Laton Lions Club.

President Duane Cooper and the members of Laton Lions Club would like to wish everyone a Happy and safe Fourth of July. We would like to thank the women and men of the U. S. Armed forces for fighting for us so we could enjoy this freedom. Please drink responsibly and designate a driver. Also make sure to use Safe and Sane Fireworks. Members of the Laton Fire Department are selling fireworks so be sure to stop by and see them.

Saturday afternoon during Rodeo weekend some outstanding folkloric dancers from the Laton Drama Club “Los Vaqueros De Laton” which translates to “The cowboys of Laton” did an outstanding performance for our guests. They needed donations for some much needed repairs to their costumes and boots. A hat was passed around and $300 was collected from you the community. The Lions club matched the donation giving these awesome kids $600. This evening Drama Club President Blake Alford and his colleague’s presented a thank you letter to President Duane Cooper. It was decided amongst the Laton Lion Club members to give these awesome kids and additional $400 to make the total donation $1,000 to continue their awesome job for all to enjoy. Great Job “Los Vaqueros De Laton.” Keep up the great work representing Laton.

We would like to take a moment and sincerely thank all of our supporters. By attending our functions you are giving so much more than you know. You are helping us to donate to worthy causes. For example monies made by purchasing the raffle tickets at our Spring rodeo on Saturday, we were able to make a $1200 donation to The Women’s Community Cancer Care.

With another successful year of fundraisers we were able to award eight, yes I said eight, scholarships to Laton High School students!
