Parkside Christmas

Parkside Christmas Started in 2008, we've been putting on a synchronized light and sound Christmas display every night during the season.

This is our Christmas gift to the community, so please drop by and we hope you enjoy it!

We've had a great run this year but tonight is the last night of our display. (Epiphany) Thanks to everyone who dropped by to see it, didn't block our neighbor's driveways and turned their headlights off! ;) We will (hopefully) see you again next Thanksgiving!

Wow, I forgot to put the FB announcement up! We're up and running again in our 16th year! Come by and check out the "MegaFlake" that we introduced last season!

Happy 12th Day of Christmas everyone! Our last show of this season will be tomorrow night on Epiphany.

Merry Christmas, one and all!

It's taken almost two years to finish this project (thanks Covid!), but last night the new MegaFlake went up on the garage! This is built from waterjet cut aluminum with over a thousand digital pixels on it!

11/25/2022

We are once again up and running now for our 15th year! There is still a new (big) fixture that is in the elves' shop that should be making an appearance soon! (maybe Sunday)

Parkside Christmas goes Live tonight!

01/04/2021

Our last night will be this Wednesday, January 6th. Thanks to all that helped keep the crazy traffic bearable this year!

12/25/2020

Merry Christmas to all!

Please read if you're heading to see the show this week.

1) Respect one another and our neighbors. Don't block their driveways and / or yards, no littering, Remember, we live here 24-7.

2) Please keep your radios down to a comfortable level inside your car.

3) Turn off your headlights. If you can turn off the LED driving lights, please do. Those are quite bright. Awesome, but bright.
(In my car, if I set the emergency brake, then re-start the car, the DRLs won't light until I remove the parking brake.)

4) Please don't wander into the display. There are multiple trip hazards as well as live electrical lines.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't stop directly in front of the display, if others are there and viewing, please don't block their view. Join the line and move up as you can. Your time up front will come soon enough.

If you are only traveling a couple or three miles, may I suggest a later visit. Through Christmas evening, the wait could be significant. If this year follows previous years, it will be busy.

All I ask is that you consider these courtesies for a more enjoyable experience for everybody.

Merry Christmas,
Gary and MaryAnn Martin

The first of 8 such arms got finished in the shop last night! This new fixture for our garage probably won't make it out this year but next for sure! The assembled fixture is 10' in diameter.

11/27/2020

Good news! The technical gremlins have been all taken care of. Our preview run this evening proved good enough that we're leaving the show up and running.

Welcome to Parkside Christmas 2020!

11/26/2020

Well it certainly *IS* still 2020! The last few days of steady rain have damaged some elements and made it impossible to finish setup as planned.

Thus we will NOT be starting Thanksgiving night, but most likely Saturday night the 28th.

So if you drive by and see anything lit up before then, it's just rehearsal runs! ;)

11/23/2020

It is that time of year again everyone! Parkside Christmas will be up and running from Thanksgiving Night until Epiphany (Jan 6) Drive by, tune to 96.9 and don't forget to turn off your headlights!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

01/02/2020

Our last show this season will be Sunday the 5th. Thanks to everyone that stopped by!

11/30/2019

Well that was quite the rainstorm that came through tonight! It caused some issues but we'll have them all fixed tomorrow.

11/26/2019

It is that time of year again! Parkside Christmas is ready to start up it's 12th year of a synchronized light display! This year's show will start on Thanksgiving night and run through to Epiphany. (Jan 6th)

Once again, turn off your headlights and please don't block our neighbor's driveways. The show's about to start!

Now this is one funny parody!

The "official" lyrics to that song all those decked out Christmas houses have been playing.

We have had a great run this season and will be wrapping up after this Sunday's show. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Traffic Alert! The construction crew that is rebuilding Kasold has closed off the Kasold and Harvard intersection for the rest of our season.

To reach us, you need to come in via Monterey Way, either from 15th Street or 6th Street. We still recommend you approach from the North for best viewing.

12/09/2018

Thanks to the Lawrence Mountain Bike Club for including us on their Holiday Lights ride! Good job on the decorations on your bikes. It was great meeting all of you.

11/23/2018

After a ridiculous push, we have everything up and the show is running! (It ran Thanksgiving night too!) Parkside Christmas 2018 is open for the season.

11/21/2018

Most of the decorating elves are passed out in the back yard. We've been driving them mercilessly but it looks like we'll be ready to go by Saturday, Friday or maybe even Thanksgiving!

11/08/2018

Greetings everyone and welcome to "that time of year" again!

I wanted to write a quick post so that everyone would know our schedule this year. We have a *very* early Thanksgiving on the 22nd and the weather has not been cooperating (it is snowing here as I type). So a Thanksgiving start this year is highly unlikely. We should be running by the end of November though, if all goes well!

01/03/2018

It's been a great run this year with only one minor blemish! ;) Normally we run through Epiphany (January 6th) but this year we're moving closing night up one day. We will finish this year on the Twelfth Day of Christmas, or January 5th, this Friday.

That leaves just three more encore nights for those of you that may have missed it or had to endure the heavy traffic before Christmas.

12/26/2017

To anyone that came by the display tonight, we sincerely apologize if you could not hear the music accompanying our lights. A Grinch in our neighborhood was broadcasting on our same frequency, a bunch of laughter and their dog barking. You should be able to get the music right in front of our house though.

12/04/2017

Thanks to our neighbor Paul for grabbing a picture of the Supermoon behind the display last weekend!
