We celebrate 5 years of this project this year.

From the beginning, I have called this my passion project. I am passionate about connecting business owners in the Lawrence community. I am passionate about the people that were brought together at Lawrence Lady Boss Project events. I am passionate about doing something good in this community.

Last year, I found that my passion dwindled some. My heart didn't feel fully in it anymore and by the last event of the year I was questioning everything in regards to Lawrence Lady Boss Project.

I have spent several months quiet on here trying to figure out the direction I wanted to take this project in the new year. I chatted with my nearest and dearest. I weighed my options and ultimately I decided to take a partial step back from Lawrence Lady Boss Project.

The good news is, I can't part with this project completely. But this year I plan to do less and while I thought I would have a hard time stepping back, my heart feels okay with this decision.

Lawrence Lady Boss Project started as a simple social media page and grew to something I never saw coming. For those of you that have been here from the get go, thank you. This experience has been the wildest ride.

I don't yet know what 2024 completely looks like for LLBP. I do know we will have a rocking 5 year celebration. But after that? It might just be less of the same. Or maybe completely different.

Just know that I am still just as passionate about connecting you all regardless of what happens with LLBP.

I hope 2024 is full of all the goal achieving and growing each of you deserves. I can't wait to see what is in store for all of us.

Meet Jenny Jolley, the owner and photographer behind Jenny Jolley Photography. Jenny is a wedding photographer that loves serving romantic and vibrant couples in the Lawrence, Kansas City, and Topeka areas.

✨ What is your goal for the next year?

My goal for 2024 is to serve the coolest brides and grooms and create even better memories than previous years! I’ve already met and booked with so many amazing couples for next year! I’ve also got a couple projects in mind that I’m excited to share when more details are planned.


✨Who is your biggest inspiration?

My husband is my inspiration. Marriage with my husband Chance is my favorite thing in the whole wide world. I want to be a part of other love stories by documenting weddings. I know all the little details that make my love story special and it inspires me to capture other people’s wedding details too!

✨What makes your business unique?

In the words of Taylor Swift, “I promise you’ll never find another like me!”

Everyone can hire a wedding photographer but not everyone can hire Jenny Jolley, and I strive to make that a special experience for every couple. I love timeline consultations, venue visits, and other ways to be a part of the wedding planning process. I’m by your side from booking until the wedding day and afterwards I always feel a genuine friendship with every client! Every couple gets a personal, customized experience with me.

I am also not afraid to befriend all the wedding party and guests and shake some b***y on the dancefloor, which adds to the unique experience.

✨ What other passions do you have?

I have a heart of service. I love teaching! I love going out in nature, so please send me any walking trail recommendations my way, my dog Felix and I would appreciate it! Recently I’ve picked up reading again, which has been such a good way to wind down from the stress of being a business owner. I also am passionate about date nights and love spending time with my husband Chance whether we’re at home for a movie night or at one of our favorite stopping grounds in Lawrence.

✨ What is your favorite thing about Lawrence?

The culture and community is unmatched. Lawrence has given me a homey vibe that I’ve never felt anywhere else. People are generally so kind and accepting of all lifestyles. There’s so much talent in the art space, which is so fun to see as a photographer!

Meet Jenna Polovin, the owner of Jen's Sugar Shack. Jenna is a local baker who makes made to order cake, cupcakes, and cookies.

✨ What is your goal for the next year?

My goal for 2024 is to increase monthly and weekly sales, while maintaining quality product. Target more wedding orders in the future to build a better wedding portfolio.

✨Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration would have to be my mentors who have not only taught me to decorate but have led me in the proper directions to get where I am today. Without them I wouldn't have the skills and abilities I have today.

✨What makes your business unique?

My business is unique because everything I do is homemade, I am able to express art through cakes and cookies.

✨ What other passions do you have?

I attended school for carpentry so I always have a passion to create. I love photography and sewing as well!

✨ What is your favorite thing about Lawrence?

I grew up in Lawrence, so if I had a choose my favorite thing about Lawrence it would definitely be the outpouring support of community members.

Meet Steph, the owner of Sugar Boo Cotton Candy.

Sugar Boo Cotton Candy is a cotton candy company owned by Steph and her fiancé, Scott! "We wanted to have something we could do together that was creative & fun!" Based right here in Lawrence (Steph is a townie!), as a team they get to play with sugar and glitter (something they absolutely don't skimp on!) and come up with fun new products. The name Sugar Boo is Scott's pet name for Steph, and a perfect fit for this creative business.

When asked about our event, Steph says she most looks forward to "meeting other women who are also passionate about their businesses and making new connections!"
