One of the things that took me by surprise when launching Carter Group Creative was the amount of vendor relationships that need rebuilding. After being a corporate planner for many years why would we have to start all the way from scratch?? But we did in a lot of ways. The pandemic prompted career shifts and industry staff changes all over. But guess what?
 
It has ended up being one of my favorite parts of this journey! Meeting new people, quality people, has been amazing. We cherish those we have been able to really connect with, and look forward to all we will meet moving forward. 
 
A few years ago we came across for our family photography so when .commercial was launched for business brand photography we just had to support.

Nothing beats feeling good! And while granted I don’t feel my best everyday, I always try to make an effort to surround myself with little things to brighten my mental and physical space. Fresh air, exercise, fresh florals and staying hydrated are some of the small ways that work for me.

Luckily, taking care of ourselves physically and mentally in our personal and professional life is a priority staying at the top of the list.

I admire the women we witness work so hard alongside us, and those who are steps ahead. I am grateful for mentors and coaches, and former leaders who helped shape my professional and personal journey along the way, and all women who make the mission ahead such an inspiring one. Salute!

Money matters.

Establishing a budget prior to designing and planning your event is crucial. Money, time, and resources are properly allocated when your event planner manages the budget from the START, before designing the look, sourcing vendors, etc.

We’ve seen occasions where a design could have been enhanced, or resources prioritized a bit differently, should the budget have been confirmed at the beginning.

It is not uncommon for hosts to simply not be knowledgeable of event costs, and that’s ok! Allow your event planner to educate you.

For an après-ski brunch serving up truffle fries and espresso martinis on the menu, it didn’t stop there. Seeking a relaxed and cozy vibe for the private dining room, we added board games and throws for each guest to make this an afternoon setting worth lingering for.

While delighting guests with food is not a new thing, we believe more hosts will dazzle guests in more areas than traditional entertainment this year. Live-action stations, open kitchen style meals, and more await.

A little BTS chat.

Two things we planned for this event that didn’t quite work out:

🦕We designed the look with a particular white adult chair that we REALLY wanted. But, due to the event day of the week changing, along with delivery and storage restrictions, we had to go with a different chair altogether.

🦖A few days prior to the event we realized custom French fry bags, although ordered with ample time to arrive prior to event day, just weren’t going to make it in time so we had to move to plan B.

But, that’s the nature of events, we pivoted to the next best options, birthday boy had a blast, and all is well that ends well ☺️
