Did you know the United States generates more plastic trash than any other nation, and plastic takes more than 400 years to degrade? If that’s scary to you too, here are some tips to lower your household’s plastic consumption:

• Reduce or eliminate single-use plastics (straws, plastic bags, plastic water bottles, etc.). Switch to reusable bags, cutlery, water bottles, coffee cups, and more.
• Buy more foods in bulk and fewer packaged products.
• Stop buying plastic products like food storage containers, glasses, plates, etc. and opt for glass or stainless steel instead.
• If buying plastic toys or other items, try to buy them secondhand and donate them after you’re done with them.
• Recycle what you can in your area.

Meet Rosco Byrd, our Residential Supervisor, who’s been part of the Express Disposal family for more than 8 years. His favorite part of the job? His co-workers. “They make every day great.” Over the years, he’s learned just how seriously people take customer service in this industry. And he’s right—at Express Disposal, we know how much a little extra effort can mean to our customers, and Rosco helps us make that happen.

When he’s not keeping things running smoothly, Rosco enjoys cheering for the Atlanta Falcons, Florida State Seminoles and watching WWE SmackDown. He’s also active in his community at Green Mountain Lodge #130 PHA Masonic. After work, you can often find Rosco unwinding at his favorite spot, Austin’s Firegrill & Oyster Bar. (Pro tip: their oysters are hard to beat!)
