STORY TIME!!!
Are you ready for one of the most endearing stories ever?
Once upon a time, before the days of cellphones, televisions, video games, and the internet, there were two little girls. These girls found joy in their small town by helping their parents run the family furniture store. They delighted in walks to the local grocery store for sweet treats and spent hours engrossed in their favorite pastime, art.
On days when their parents were busy at the store, the sisters loved visiting their grandmother. They baked pies, learned to crochet, and tended to the garden together. But their favorite activity was sneaking into the back bedroom to see how long they could jump on their grandmother’s feather bed before getting caught and lovingly scolded.
My grandmother’s eyes would shine with happiness as she reminisced and shared this memory with me. I was enchanted by her mischievous spirit and wanted to capture this memory to share with our family.
So, I called my sister, who has two beautiful daughters about the same age as my grandmother and her sister were in the story. We decided to recreate our grandmother’s cherished memory. With the bed frame that my grandmother once jumped on, we set it up and took pictures to bring the story to life.
This image is now a priceless portrait, telling the tale of a young, mischievous girl and her sister, immortalized for all of us to cherish.

I love it when clients bring heirlooms to their sessions! It lets me learn more about them and their story! Bringing heirlooms to your sessions does a couple of amazing things.
1) it allows you to display things that represent your family without taking up space you don’t have!
2) it’s a great conversation piece! When you have your images on the wall your guest may say “that is an awesome mitt your son has in this image.” And you respond with “ I know right?? It was my great grandfather’s!” And a whole conversation has just been sparked!
3) it allows family memebers who don’t own the heirloom to share it without having it in possession. My sister has a dress that was my grandmothers and I was able to have my daughter do a session in it and now I am able to have it without having it!
4) it helps your image tell your family’s story

Pro photog tip: Showing the bottom of shoes can be very distracting (and dirty🤣) while I love the face in the first image with her feet up, I loved her feet in the second image so I merged the two images together to create the perfect image 🩷
