On July 12, 2002, the Lee House was moved to its current location in Treganza Heritage Park.

Built in 1928, it was saved from destruction when the 125 freeway was built, and moved across the city to a new home in the heart of Lemon Grove.

Do you remember seeing this two story house being driven through the streets of Lemon Grove? It made its final move across the trolley tracks in the middle of the night, to much celebration! It took years of hard work by so many to make this happen so we can preserve this beautiful piece of Lemon Grove history.

After lots of hard work, it became a cultural center, event space, and home to our archive collections.

Join us for an open house celebrating the move of the Lee this Saturday, July 16th 11 am to 2 pm. FREE admission and FREE parking at Treganza Heritage Park.

We are looking forward to a delightful evening this Thursday at 7 pm. Join us for Music in America with John and Deirdra Doan and Steven Bissell.

MUSIC IN AMERICA NEXT UP ON "HISTORY ALIVE"

The Lemon Grove Historical Society (LGHS) will continue its free signature series, History Alive, on Nov. 4, 2021 with the musical team of John and Deirdra Doan and Steven Bissell.

The trio are veteran music-makers, who regale audiences with music, words and pictures on how people used to entertain themselves with music around the family upright piano, on harmonicas, stringed instruments of all kinds, and more. In other words, life wasn’t always TV, cell phones, movies and social media.

John Doan taught “Music in America” for 40 years at Willamette University, Salem, Oregon, as a professor of Music History, while Deirdra Doan is a painter and Bissell a multi-talented instrumentalist.

When: 7:00 PM
Where: H Lee House Cultural Center, 3205 Olive Street, Lemon Grove
Cost: FREE
Parking: Free in Treganza Heritage Park

“History Alive” is made possible by a Community Enhancement Grant from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and is generally suitable for ages 16 and over. Where possible, lectures are videotaped by our videographer-in-residence, Robert Stuckey, and stored in our archives.
