We were glad to get such positive response and feedback about what kind of health and wellness classes you would like to attend! Our first one in partnership with Shannon Dubois will be Wednesday, October 2 from 12-1 p.m. and Thursday, October 3 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The topic is Master Your Metabolism: Keys to creating more energy and a healthier body.

Love our new look? We do too! Thanks to Hailey Case www.hhaileycase.com for the update to match the aesthetics and goals of Agora as a place to gather, to connect, to learn. We love the subtle nod to the Greek origins of the word Agora meaning "a public space for assembly and dialogue." We hope to see you soon!

Hailey Case is a young creative who is knowledgeable in branding, design, creative strategy, social media management, and content creation.

We are so grateful to the Wichita County AIM Coalition for their work creating a healthier Wichita County over the past 8 years. The opportunity for the grant couldn't have come at a better time. We're doing some finishing touches to the inside and preparing to launch opportunities to gather beginning later this summer and look forward to welcoming you.

In a nutshell, this is what Agora hopes to do for the Wichita County community...create a place for people to gather, as they have done within these four walls for many years prior.

We appreciate everyone who took the survey at the end of 2023! Thanks to your feedback, the board is working on carrying out some plans to recreate this space while honoring the role it has served for many decades. Stay tuned for the exciting things to come!

A community behaves much like a family and when we take away a place for people to gather, we take away the place where it becomes possible to feel a sense of togetherness. A family will struggle to grow closer if there is nowhere they can be together and a community is the same. This notion of community does not exist in theory only, it requires PLACE. People have to come together for it to occur. It is by design and this is why it has always been designed into the urban fabric, because it is essential to the civic experience and the human one.

It’s not just having the dedicated space either, but making sure that space is inviting and attractive. The space where you want your family to spend time together should be designed to entice them. It won’t work if it is loud or dirty, if it’s not comfortable people won’t use it, therefore its function ceases to matter.

Main Street, the public plaza and town square, these are the places that are essential to the health of your town. These are the physical locations where a sense of community can occur. This is where the roots get put down and the attachment begins and deepens. These are the places we must begin to invest in if we aim to make our towns relevant to the people that call them home.

Public places have to do more than just take up space, they have to be nice. They have to be welcoming and entertaining. They have to be better than all the other options to function properly. They must entice people from inferior places. The setting matters if good public space is going to bring people together and we must find ways to bring people together.

As you plan for your year-end giving, we hope you'll consider Agora. You can drop donations by the Wichita County Community Foundation office tomorrow between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Our vision for this space is to bring people together, face-to-face, to learn, laugh, connect, and we'd love your support in doing that. Wichita County deserves a place where everyone can gather.

We're looking to make some updates to the facility and bring new energy to the vision that we set out to create.
