Y'all know I absolutely love flowers. They quite literally have healing properties. Growing them, looking upon them, smelling them, arranging them, can change your mood and absolutely improve a dreary outlook. For many years I thought I might be the unlucky in love type and boy, I could not have been more wrong! One month ago I got to turn dreams into reality and create my very own wedding florals. I nurtured most of these blooms from seed, through the drought and many deer prunings, for our fairytale wedding on a beautiful early Autumn day in Pocahontas County. These are just a few of the amazing images Marlyn McClendon Photography captured for us on our incredibly special day. ✨️💐❤️

True Heart Flower Farm will host a *make your own dried flower pumpkin* workshop on Tuesday, October 22 at 5:30 pm conveniently located in The Hub first floor classroom! All materials provided, please byo hot glue gun if you have one! $45 per person - we will make at least 2 dried flower pumpkins per person - if given proper care they should last 6 or more months! I'm making a very limited amount of these literally *Everlasting* Dried Flower Pumpkins.
31 ☆ 1 for each day of October. They are velvet 🎃 covered foam with dried flowers adorning their cute lil tops. If kept indoors and out of direct light they will last foreverrr. I made this test batch of 5 today for us to keep with some dried flowers from our wedding arrangements and I'm in love with how sweet they are! Two weeks married to my soulmate yesterday! ❤️ message to order, $23 each or 2 for $40 - limit 4 per - made by hands, available for pickup before 10/31 - they are quite smol, palm size 💐🍂

Had such a wonderful time traveling to Tucker County last weekend to flower the wedding of a dear friend and I've got flowers to sell this week, before our own wedding next week!!

Who wants to come to a workshop to make their own dried flower pumpkin, closer to Halloween y'all, and who wants me to just make them for you? Mine (pictured) lasted 8 months, from late October, to early July of this year.
I can't wait to make more either way! 🍃🍂

I am so proud of the amazing work that came out of both of my free youth workshops ❤️💐 The young ladies that attended my two part course knocked it out of the park with their creativity and the unique pieces they made specifically today were SO BEAUTIFUL! 🌛
It made my little arts and crafts 🎨 heart so full to see them open up their minds and just create with the natural materials and guidance I provided. 🍃
Enormous thanks to The Hub & High Rocks Educational Corporation for putting on such an incredible free to attend workshop series for the youth of our Appalachian community in 🙌
I am always inspired by the work of Morning Dew Farm and I was so happy to tell my students about my friend in Canada 🇨🇦 who originally influenced me to make dried flower moons while we hot glued dried flowers to everything today!
I hope to continue to lead more workshops like these in the years to come and encourage you to sign your kids up for the remaining workshops this year! Next up is jewelry making with Shea New jewelry 💍 - don't sleep on these awesome opportunities to learn from local artisans and creators!!

Alaina Hower is a cherished local icon, beloved for much more than her florals. As a dear friend of The Hub, we would best describe her as whimsical, devoted, and generous. These qualities shine through in both her personality and her work, making her a treasured member of the community.

Her floral journey began humbly with planting flower beds in downtown Lewisburg. This passion for beautifying her surroundings began laying the path for Hower's future endeavors. However, it was the pivotal moment when a friend asked her to provide flowers for her wedding that truly kicked off this journey! Alaina accepted the challenge, and from this opportunity, True Heart Flower Farm was born, and our community has been grateful ever since. Today, Alaina is renowned for her unique and fashionable floral arrangements. Each bouquet is a reminder of her creativity and dedication, crafted from homegrown flowers that she plants by hand as seeds. Alaina’s work is recognized not only by the beauty of the flowers themselves but also by her thoughtful incorporation of native flora and fauna, tying her work back to her West Virginia roots. 🩷

In my line of work I create floral arrangements for people from all walks of life, for a variety of occasions, both happy and sad. From children's graduations, birthdays, mother's days, Christmases, weddings, memorials, celebrations of life, funerals and everything in between. Evva Gilkeson ordered flowers for ALL of those reasons. She regularly ordered arrangements to give away to her Mom, display in her shop, and treat her friends. She ordered multiple wreaths every year and always sang my praises in person and on social media. She always tipped me way too much and she was an incredible force of light, laughter, positivity and change in our community. She was eclectic and unique and her shop and home reflected her personality and style. As my career has evolved, I often find myself tasked with making arrangements for the funeral, memorial and celebration of life services of people I loved so much during their time here with us on this plane. This occasion is no different. I loved Evva and it will be my honor and pleasure to make a few more bouquets for her. If you feel inclined or are financially able to donate towards floral arrangements for Evva's Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 2 at The Queen's Ink, please Venmo and include in the memo and I will include your name on a card. All extra donations beyond the cost of flowers will be donated to Evva's sons. I don't keep any "pay" for events like these, I buy flowers, and make arrangements with love in my heart for the person no longer with us. Our hearts are so broken in this time, but Evva would want us to go on being our bold, unique selves til our very last days. If you can't donate at this time, get more tattoos in your future! Our 2024 S.T.E.A.M. Workshop Series is about to begin! We have 8 unique and creative workshops lined up which will all be led by local artisans.

Next week, we will be posting and emailing out the sign-up link for the first workshop in the series: Natural, Organic Beekeeping & Crafts hosted by Another Season Honey Farm!
