As a kid, I dreamt of being a writer and illustrator of books. Never in a million years thought I’d be a business owner, let alone florist. But here I am.

Sometimes our lives redirect our dreams through necessity and just living itself. Some of my biggest accomplishments were achieved during those “redirected times”, my kiddos. Wouldn’t trade them for a boat load of dreams.

I’m older now and still dream but have to stop and remind myself, I have more years behind me than ahead and a whole lot less energy. lol

Do you have a dream? Take it from me, don’t let fear stop you, especially if you are still young. You don’t know you can do something until you’ve tried. Sometimes it might take a couple of tries.

I let fear of failing stop me from doing things all through my life. I regret that so much now. No telling what I could have accomplished in my almost 64 years if I had just let go and let God.

Don’t misunderstand, what I have got to do in my lifetime, I’m very proud of. I give God full credit for it all. He’s good to me.

Who knows, I may get to write that book yet!

As most crafters are aware, buying supplies is an addiction! Well, I’m no different, especially when it comes to ribbon!
I’m going through my ribbon stash and realize I have a problem! I have more ribbon than I could use in a life time.
I will be putting out a ton of ribbon for sale in the shop first of next week. The rolls aren’t typical of a craft store but for florist so most will be 100 ft long and various widths.
Prices will be close to wholesale prices so they will go fast!
I will post pics by Monday morning.
I’ll be starting with the spring and summer rolls.

After much thought I have made a decision. I hope everyone can adjust to the change without much difficulty.

I’m changing the shop’s hours a bit. Now that Dollar General is gone I don’t feel safe staying open until 6. From 5-6 my car is the only one in the parking lot.

Saturday’s hours will be changed to reflect customer’s shopping patterns.

So, starting tomorrow our hours will be as follows.

Mon- Fri. 10-5
Sat 10-1

Thank you for your understanding.

This isn’t to say we won’t adjust hours for special events in the future but I will give notice ahead of time.

We’ve been doing fresh flowers for a year now for all occasions, including funeral work. I changed my page profile pics to showcase some funeral work we have done in the past.

Larry had a heart ablasion today and though it went well, may have to stay the night in the hospital. It may be later in the day when I open the store tomorrow because I will need to bring him home. We are waiting to see if that is the case.

Update: Larry had consultation with doc today concerning some issues he’s been having. He doesn’t believe it’s cancer, thank goodness but can’t have any scopes or anything until December because he just had heart cath.
He has a heart ablation procedure tomorrow so be in prayer for that.
Thank you all for your concern and prayers.

I’ll be closing at 2 today and may not be back this afternoon.
I will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday) for the entire day. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

One of the privileges of owning a vendor type store is the people I get to meet and interact with on a regular basis. I knew of Eddie Price but hadn’t met him. It is a pleasure to work with him and I learn new things every time he walks in the store. I understand how kids say he brought history alive for them when he taught school. It’s no wonder he is now a published author! If you hadn’t guessed yet, he is Truly Gifted’s next vendor spotlight. Eddie Price grew up on the tobacco farms and hayfields of western Kentucky. He began writing at an early age. After teaching at Hancock County High School for 36 years (and Owensboro Community College night courses for 21 of those years), and leading EF Education tour groups all over the world, Eddie became a full-time writer. His historical novels Widder’s Landing and One Drop-A Slave! gained instant critical acclaim and won numerous literary awards. He began presenting programs to historical and genealogical societies, libraries and arts councils, patriotic organizations, schools, colleges, and universities. His children’s books, illustrated by Mark Wayne Adams, soon became a hit with younger audiences. The Little Miss Grubby Toes Misadventure Series is popular with classrooms all over America. Winner of "Moms Choice Awards", Florida Authors & Publishers Awards, and Readers' Favorite Awards, Eddie visits schools, book fairs, and events with an engaging reading program, puppet show, singing, and activities.
