Works in progress showings are choreographic opportunities for our YDI & PTP artists to show their creativity to the entire Bates Dance Festival Community. 🎄✨ On the eighth day of Bates Dance Festival , the festival gave to me: EIGHT PTP Dancers ! 💃🩰

The Professional Training Program, otherwise known as PTP enrolls intermediate and advanced dancers, ages 18 and older, who have previous experience and curiosity in the field of dance. Dancers develop technique and strengthen their knowledge-base. Dance-makers have the opportunity to create and dig into composition and process. Teachers refresh and refine skills for the classroom and the studio. Join us from July 13–August 2, 2025 for a jammed packed summer full of movement and artistic expression!

The Young Dancers Intensive (YDI) Mentor position is a rewarding opportunity to work with a group of 50-70 teens from around the country. YDI mentors serve as both camp counselors and artistic mentors and work as a team to provide the students with tools for self-care, building community, and how to thrive in continued studies and an eventual career in dance.

To be a mentor you must be at least 21 years of age by June 24, 2025.

James Allister Sprang’s ‘Listening Sessions’ opens TONIGHT at Trinity Episcopal Church! Come rest inside of a shared audio experience, while taking the time to turn inward and tend to our inner landscapes ✨ 💫TONIGHT, July 12 at 7:30PM, James will share a NEW Work in Progress that will premiere in its fullest experience later this year. We’ve been so lucky to have Heather Lyon (@_heatherlyon) as an Artist in Residence during the Young Dancers Intensive with her “Portal” project, now installed on the Baldwell Street Field on campus. The Young Dancers have been working with Heather to install the ‘Portal’ and added in more materials yesterday during a workshop with her.
