We’re not being authentic unless we’re sharing it all. Yesterday at a family hosted a Celebration of Life for their beloved wife, daughter, mom, sister & Oma (grandma).

A few weeks ago, when I first met the family, they shared stories of Sam with me as we walked around the property talking about ways to honor her. “We aren’t fancy,” her husband Ray told me. We just want a space where people can talk, share memories, and then be on their way.

Her sister, Wendy, was getting ready to welcome her next grandchild and was feeling a little overwhelmed by trying to pull everything together. As we talked, Sam’s mom shared with me that Sam had loved going to Laura’s tea room and that pink Ge**er daisies were her favorite flower. Ray chimed in sharing that Sam’s drink of choice was Busch Light.

Our standard packages, well, they didn’t really fit what the family had in mind. So we got to work.

Yesterday’s celebration of life was a mini tea party, complete with simple pink Ge**er daisies in mason jars as the decor. Our bridal suite was transformed into a welcoming room with pictures & memories of Sam displayed. The day wasn’t fancy and the signature drink was Busch Light - with bright colored straws. While that’s not a package that you’ll find on our website, our job is to craft a unique experience for each of our clients. And when that means moving away from our standard offerings, that’s what we do.

We have the distinct honor of being a small part of some of life’s happiest moments. But, for the more solemn moments, we are thankful to be trusted. These are tough celebrations for family & friends and we just hope that our participation offers a tiny bright spot during dark days. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the Herring and Moseley families for trusting us to help pull the day together.

Our deepest sympathies, The Farm Crafted Events team

There’s this saying…comparison is the thief of joy.

In today’s social media world I, personally, need that reminder almost daily. And when working with people on crafting their events, I often sense similar anxiety and concern about not meeting the social media curated expectation. Often, people feel as though they’re fighting a losing battle trying to keep up with the Joneses. Or, they worry about being judged for their event choices.

Here’s the thing - your event is personal. And it should reflect your own personality, not someone else’s. There’s a difference between inspiration and measuring.

When you try too hard to create an event based on the way you see everyone else doing it, you lose those special touches that make your event…well, YOUR event

At Farm Crafted Events, we constantly remind you of this during the planning process. We take the time to understand who you are and what parts of your celebration can best reflect that.

This is all about you & the experience you want to craft. How will you know when you’ve found the right team to help you? Off the hip, it takes a lot of trust. But this I know - you’ll know when it feels right. It’s just a feeling.

And whether that team is us or someone else - we’re happy that you’ve found your people & your place. Just do us a favor - don’t let comparison steal your joy!

Happy event planning, friends.

I’ve been thinking about my last post where I confessed that I do a terrible job (grade F🤦‍♀️) of consistently posting on the FCE social accounts.

Honestly, it gives me heartburn 😩
thinking about another “to do”.

But , I know how important
🤳🏻social media 🤳🏻is for consistent communication with our clients & future hosts. And so today I’m starting a new chapter for FCE’s social channels.

We’re going to post in a more authentic way. So instead of me stressing over finding the 🤩perfect images & videos🤩, I’m going to post more real life stories.

One thing I have learned since starting in the event business, is that there’s a lot of pressure on PERFECT.

And frankly, I think that’s a silly ideal. 🙄

🚫No event is perfect 🚫

Things happen. And as an event host - whether that’s a wedding, rehearsal dinner, milestone birthday, class reunion etc - you shouldn’t have to spend your planning months stressing.

You should 🎉 AND CAN 🎉 have fun planning your event.

Will your event be perfect? The honest answer is…

🙅‍♀️NO 🙅‍♀️

Something’s going to go wrong.

BUT…the good news is if you choose a venue & a team that prioritizes YOU and has EXPERIENCE, what does go wrong won’t impact you in a negative way. In many cases, you may not even notice on the day of.

So today, I leave you with this small piece of advice…

📢Stop letting the social media scroll stress you out. Those curated images & videos aren’t real life. And you WILL have an amazing event.

That is a ✨guarantee ✨

Today marks my own 10 year wedding anniversary. All day today, I’ve been reflecting on that gorgeous spring evening. And, believe it or not, I’ve been thinking about what to post here!

I don’t do the best job - ok let’s be honest - I do a terrible job of consistently posting on FCE. And I realized why…it’s because I spend so much time with our events living in the moment.

That’s the heartbeat of what we’ve created out here….a gathering space that feels authentic, a space where you feel welcome & a place where some of life’s most important celebrations are something you have to experience to understand.

And that’s a lot of what I remember about our own wedding on 4-5-2014. It was a day that we were surrounded by all the people who mean the world to us.

And so this evening, I’ll leave you with one small piece of advice…capture that memory. Because decades later, you’re going to love being able to relive such an amazing day.

Cheers friends 🥂

We posted last week that 2024 marks our own 10-year wedding anniversary. Looking back at our wedding ten years later… there’s SO much we wouldn’t change. But, we'd definitely do some things different. As we celebrate ONE WHOLE DECADE, we want to share some of that wisdom with you. We hope it’s helpful to you on your own planning journey.

The search for our own wedding venue ended in HEARTACHE. I know that sounds dramatic. At the time, though, it really did suck. Avoid making the same mistakes we did.

We’re Brett & McKenzie Flashnick…and you probably didn’t expect a picture like this to show up on your feed if you think about us as a wedding venue!

We’re the owners of Farm Crafted Events - a unique event venue in Lexington SC.

And frankly, if you had asked me (McKenzie) 10 years ago if I would ever be caught dead in a pair of farm boots…I’d likely laugh you out of the room.

See, I used to have different priorities. I guess that’s not abnormal…time & life experiences change us all.

2024 marks our 10 year wedding anniversary. As venue owners ourselves, we have such a different perspective then we did 10 years ago. I hope you’ll continue to follow along this year as we share everything we wish we would have known 10 years ago…

There are some things we wouldn’t change for the world. And others, well 🤷‍♀️…

But the ONE thing that I feel like we really got right…

WHO we had at our wedding mattered more
to us than WHAT we had there. Sure, we wanted great food, (plenty of booze), and excellent entertainment. We wanted our guests to be comfortable. But we really wanted to experience the day with people who mattered most to us.

And I know this is what we also get right at Farm Crafted Events. We help our couples prioritize the things that matter most without breaking the bank. And I’d love nothing more than 2024 to be 🌟your🌟 year.

We love all our couples, but celebrating a decade of our marriage alongside your beginning would be something super special.

If you’re planning but haven’t found the right space - schedule a tour with us!

Sometimes the guys don't get enough love! We absolutely adore seeing the groom's personality come out in photos. Our favorite, though, has to be that stunning smile as Cole watched his beautiful bride walk down the aisle. Time seemed to stand still...love these precious moments 🕊️💫

Happy #2 to the Kelleys! Robin & Tim were the first couple that trusted us to craft a memorable day on the farm. It's fitting that they have become family & Robin joined us on the journey to crafting memorable events for other couples!

We mean what we say about getting married out here - it's not about all the stuff. It's really about the memories, relationships, and soaking in the moments that truly matter.

We take each wedding we are a part of very seriously. They're all extremely important and we strive to make each day memorable for our couples. But there is always a special place in our hearts for the Kelleys. Cheers to you both and hope you had a wonderful day celebrating!
