We’re not being authentic unless we’re sharing it all. Yesterday at a family hosted a Celebration of Life for their beloved wife, daughter, mom, sister & Oma (grandma).
A few weeks ago, when I first met the family, they shared stories of Sam with me as we walked around the property talking about ways to honor her. “We aren’t fancy,” her husband Ray told me. We just want a space where people can talk, share memories, and then be on their way.
Her sister, Wendy, was getting ready to welcome her next grandchild and was feeling a little overwhelmed by trying to pull everything together. As we talked, Sam’s mom shared with me that Sam had loved going to Laura’s tea room and that pink Ge**er daisies were her favorite flower. Ray chimed in sharing that Sam’s drink of choice was Busch Light.
Our standard packages, well, they didn’t really fit what the family had in mind. So we got to work.
Yesterday’s celebration of life was a mini tea party, complete with simple pink Ge**er daisies in mason jars as the decor. Our bridal suite was transformed into a welcoming room with pictures & memories of Sam displayed. The day wasn’t fancy and the signature drink was Busch Light - with bright colored straws. While that’s not a package that you’ll find on our website, our job is to craft a unique experience for each of our clients. And when that means moving away from our standard offerings, that’s what we do.
We have the distinct honor of being a small part of some of life’s happiest moments. But, for the more solemn moments, we are thankful to be trusted. These are tough celebrations for family & friends and we just hope that our participation offers a tiny bright spot during dark days. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the Herring and Moseley families for trusting us to help pull the day together.
Our deepest sympathies, The Farm Crafted Events team
