Around the Block Catering takes Joy in preparing & serving smoked meats with homemade sides and desserts for delivery or dine-in at the District 22 Event Center for private family & business events located near Lexington & Cozad, Nebraska. We are located at the District 22 Event Center, a renovated country schoolhouse, 4 miles northwest of Lexington, Nebraska. We have a full service kitchen with a

smoker that can cater any event– business meeting, club or church gathering, wedding reception or rehearsal dinner, quinceañera, or family celebration– bar service, sound system,wifi, cable, overhead projector and screen are also available. District 22 Event Center can accommodate 200 guests while seating 125 comfortably. Whether dining-in or delivery to your destination, we are here to serve you and your guests.>.

Last evening prepared a Mac 'N Cheese Buffet for the Gelbvieh Association in Nebraska at Kearney. We provided brisket burnt ends, dices of ham, broccoli, and tomatoes, Parmesan bread crumbs, chives and BBQ. This was a first request. What toppings would you like for your creamy Mac 'N Cheese?

Last evening we were invited to prepare appetizers for the Positively Pink event hosted by the Phelps Memorial Health Center at the Sun Theatre in Holdrege. Here are a few of the hors d'oeuvres we served.

Last week for a business lunch, I served a Pork Loin Sandwich with provolone cheese on a toasted bun with Pickled Red Onions and Pork BBQ Sauce condiments (which we make from scratch). As you can see it was served with some of our most requested sides - Jim's Baked Beans, Apple Leafy Green Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing and Banana Bars. For an economical lunch - this Pork Loin Sandwich was a great choice!

Shout out to the laborers today! Some of you are working, some of you are resting. I rested over the weekend and was back to serving the silage harvesters today. So for me it is Day 5 - Prime Rib Sandwich, Day 4 - Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, Day 3 - Hot Beef Sundae, and Day 2 - Brisket Sandwich. Thank you to all who work!

A week ago my mother-in-law, Marge, celebrated her 90th birthday with her boys, Rich, Don, and Mike. Her request was Flat Iron Steak because it is tender and easier for her to eat. Apple Leafy Green Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing and Cheesy Potatoes; we added Frog Eye Salad one of her favorites. Notice this steak is so tender that even cheap plastic cutlery had no problem slicing thru the meat! For dessert she wanted a Soda Cracker Pie which I have never made so after googling I found a recipe for a Strawberry Soda Cracker Pie that used egg whites and a Lemon Pie with a different soda cracker crust that used egg yolks that my sisters-in-law, niece and I made. Both yummy and easy! It was a celebration of family, food, and fun! These are the best gifts to have when you are 90!

Last Friday, the 9th, we were invited to serve the RareJul Golf Tournament - "Go for the Gold". The theme was the Olympics in France featuring "French" foods. Therefore the golfers received a French Dip with Au Jus, French Green Beans, French Steak Fries with French Onion Dip, Olympic Rings Fresh Fruit and French Silk Slab Pie. This may not have been traditional "French Cuisine" but it was sure fun to prepare and serve. Thank you to the Strasburgs for inviting us to serve this valuable fundraiser in memory of their daughter Juliet in raising money to help other families in need. Help us all to remember to "Go for the Gold" in helping others!

We have received a number of hand written thank yous for our catering service and food however, the other day I received this drawing😊 from the 8 year old who was celebrating his birthday with extended family. Happy Birthday Kevin! 🎂🎸

Last Sunday June 23rd, First State Bank invited us to serve Farnam Founders Day Brunch following the church service. What a great turn out! Photo Note: I forgot to take the photo before I started eating. We served Sausage Gravy and Biscuits (notice extra chunks of sausage), Hearty Egg Casserole with Ham, Red Bell Pepper and Green Onions, Summer Melon Medley (Kudos to Plum Creek Market where I purchased all the tasty fruits) and homemade Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffin (there were also Blueberry, Banana, and Apple Streusel Muffins to choose from). **Next time I will try to take the photo before I start eating!

District 22 Event Center is a great place for business luncheons. We love serving Darr Feedlot who uses our facility regularly for learning opportunities.
This meal was BBQ Brisket Burnt Ends on Mac 'N Cheese with choice of toppings - thank you for allowing me to try new foods.

We are located at the District 22 Event Center, a renovated country schoolhouse, 4 miles northwest of Lexington or 11 miles east of Cozad, Nebraska. We have a full service kitchen and a liquor license, therefore we can accommodate all family celebrations and business meetings up to 200 guests while seating 125 comfortably. District 22 Event Center is handicapped accessible, has plenty of parking and is equipped with wifi and audio & video equipment.“This is a great place to host family gatherings” and “it is private” are comments we hear often.

We take Joy and Time in preparing Smoked Brisket, Prime Rib with J’s Horseradish Sauce, Pulled Pork, and Mediterranean Chicken. These are just some of the meats served along with our homemade sides.
