Meet Emma-the newest member of the Big Spring team! She is our executive assistant and guest services manager! She wears lots of hats and we’re so excited to have her join us!! Let’s get to know Emma a little better, shall we?!…

She is a former Art Educator and loves all things creative! Originally from Fauquier County, she attended (GO DUKES!). During post-grad life, Emma met and married her husband Zach; a Shenandoah Valley native and avid fly fisherman. They moved to Lexington in 2021 to teach in the local school system.

Here are some fun facts about Emma:

Before moving to Big Spring, we lived on a much more rural farm. The closest grocery store was 25 minutes away and most of our friends lived hours away. Even though we loved that farm, we longed for more community.

That was our biggest prayer in moving to Lexington- that we would find families and friends to do life with. Fast forward 9 years and God has FAR exceeded anything we could have ever dreamed of! We bought the 200 acres across the road and all of our parents and even some friends have built houses right here at our farm! CRAZY!

We are constantly amazed at the rich community we have found here in our small town! A few years ago, some of our best friends started a supper club at their farm. Every month several families (and lots of energetic kids🤗) gather to share a meal and catch up on life!

When we saw and announce a super club giveaway, we knew we had to enter! A few of us got together and made some delicious recipes from her latest cookbook. The chicken was raised on our farm and bread and syrup were from SO delicious!

If you're not already a part of a supper club, text some friends and start one! We can't recommend it enough! There's something so special when you get together and share a meal!

We want to make our holidays as fun and intentional as possible and we want to help you do the same! Here is part 4 of our conversation prompts that will help you connect with friends and loved ones this week! Enjoy! 1. If you could visit any place in the world right now, where would you go and why? 2. If you were to write a book, what genre would it be and what would it be about? 3. Do you have a favorite holiday movie or song? Why does it resonate with you?

1. Another amazing wedding season- as we wind down another year, we are so thankful for all the couples that trusted us with hosting one of the biggest days of their lives! 2. Our team- speaking of another wedding season, we couldn’t do any of what we do without our amazing team! We are beyond grateful for @bailey._sanders and @emmalyn.dish and the rest of our awesome event staff who work tirelessly to make sure every event goes smoothly! 3. Our Children- they are one of the greatest blessings in our lives! As they grow and change so quickly, they are a sweet reminder of how time is fleeting. Their excitement around the holidays is contagious and we are so thankful for them! 4. Family- when we tell people that all of our parents have property on the farm and 4 out of 5 of them live in Lexington full-time, we get quite the reaction! “Do you like them being so close?!?” And the answer is we ABSOLUTELY do! My parents live right across the road and Buddy’s dad and stepmom live 10 minutes away and we LOVE being able to see them all the time! We are so thankful for the relationships we have with our parents and how present they are in our lives and our children’s lives! 5. Our marriage- the gift that continually refines us. In past postpartum seasons, we have really struggled to thrive individually and in our relationship, but I’m so thankful for this season where we choose to be intentional and *choose* to thrive!! What are you thankful for?!

@katelynjames and I have had all but one of our pregnancies line up within months of each other (not planned🤣)! It was such a gift to be pregnant at the same time and we always looked forward to the time when we could take our girls on trips together! This past weekend marked our first official girls trip and it was so much fun! Monroe kept saying “this is the best day ever” and literally cried after Evy left to go home! What sweet memories we made! 🥰 The other girls are too young to know what they missed, but eventually I’ll be filling a whole room with my girl gang!🤣 (we stayed at the @omnihomestead and it was lovely-definitely recommend!)

When we met in college, Buddy had a motorcycle. Once we started having kids, it was no longer practical, so he sold it. Earlier this year he got the motorcycle itch again, so the most obvious choice was this little guy that we lovingly refer to as “The Hog”. Is it for work…or is it for pleasure? For tax purposes, we’re going with “work”! 🤣
