I'll be hosting the Genealogy Booth, and throughout the day we'll have volunteers from the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and North Hills Genealogists on hand to answer questions and point you to genealogical resources. If you are of Scottish descent (or just want to spend the day at one of the coolest events in western Pennsylvania), come check it out!

This is such a nice event. If you are planning on attending the Ligonier Highland Games, consider buying a ticket for the 5 p.m. Ceilidh and Scottish Buffet at the Gray Goose. RichPatrick will be part of the entertainment that evening.

The Ligonier Highland Games is offering the first Introduction to Piping Seminar. This will be a lesson and informative session for people interested in beginning to learn how to play bagpipes. Each session will be approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in length, presented by Mr. A.G. Lee, Pipe Major for the Seton Hill University Pipe Band, with over 60 years of experience in playing the pipes and 50 years of teaching. Attendees will learn about bagpipes, the history, nomenclature, types and the basics of playing, learning to select the correct equipment and choosing an instructor. Attendees will also get the opportunity to try the practice chanter and an attempt at the actual bagpipes.

Attendance at each session is limited to 10 people, with a morning and afternoon session, pre registration is required. We ask that attendees be at least 10 years old and all people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. See link below to register.
