Check it Out!

This week’s is a photograph of the Ohio Theatre Lima in 1930. It was built as a movie theater in 1927 by the Schine Corporation. However, from the beginning the Ohio Theatre Lima showed both movies and stage performances. In 1982, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is still located on W. North St. between N. Main St. and N Elizabeth St.

We attended the "Open Wall" exhibit opening last night at ArtSpace/Lima and were reminded that this magnificent, creative haven for artists and their work product is why we bought the Ohio Theatre in the first place. Artspace/Lima continues to promote and share all of the Arts through their classes, workshops, gallery exhibits, lectures, Day Camps and Films.

"Open Wall" is a new concept for them where they invited local artists who do not normally get an opportunity to showcase their work to share their talent with the community in a public setting for all to enjoy and admire.

The opening was well attended and all of those in attendance (including us) were very impressed with the level of talent exhibited in the two first floor galleries. Additionally, Artspace creatives did an excellent job of professionally curating and displaying the work for optimum presentation.

While we loved and admired all of the work on display, we especially enjoyed seeing the work of our friends John Rausch, Carl Smith, Sue Smith, Terri Lynne Blosser and of course Cesar A. Rodriguez, who's poster designs for our Theatrical Productions were on display.

"Open Wall" which continues through July 19th is the brainchild of Artspace/Lima Executive Director Sally Windle who has once again demonstrated her life-long commitment to educating, enlightening, and enriching local Artists and the community at large. She is a true
