PAY RATE: $15-$17 per hour based on industry work experience, skill set and availability.

Duties and responsibilities: include daily dish room duties, general kitchen maintenance and cleaning, warehouse assistance for loading and unloading catering vehicles, light utilitarian kitchen prep work.

Full-service catering company hiring a lead production chef who has a wide-range of culinary skill sets. This high-energy position supervises the flow of food production in the commissary kitchen on a daily basis. Setting the pace and quality standards to be achieved for each catering order. This chef position must have high standards for food quality, sanitation and a professional work environment. For this new position, we are seeking a candidate who demonstrates leadership skills and has a confident voice of delegation in the kitchen. This lead position requires the applicant to multi task on a daily basis, managing small and large-scale catering production. 80% of the job requires time and attention to detail at the commissary kitchen where all catering orders are prepped, staged and packed for transport. 20% of the job is going on-site to the catering locations and executing the culinary needs as a lead event chef during the meal set-up and service. Both areas of involvement rely heavily on organizational skills, quality standards and a refined sense for timing and urgency.

Formal culinary training is helpful for this job and candidates must have or be willing to obtain a sanitation certificate. Applicant must be able to work a flexible schedule week to week and must be available for schedule changes and changes in their job function from time to time. Essential duties and job responsibilities include hot and cold food production, sauce making, fast-paced food prep, on-location cooking, grilling and working chef action stations. Candidate will be involved in executing catering functions, serving and hosting wedding tastings, working interactive food stations and helping to manage the flow of food from prep to final presentation. Other areas of chef involvement include ordering food and receiving food from vendors, writing the kitchen production schedule and planning out production prep lists.

Our 27 year old catering company works with a wide range of large-scale corporate clients, wedding venues throughout the Chicagoland area and hosts many upscale social events and galas.
