I did a thing.
I applied for a grant.
If I'm chosen, I will host a workshop for visual creatives who want to level up and get clarity in their business finances.

As a part of the application, I had to create a portfolio of images.
It struck me that I've been busy working and not really good at sharing. Two friends told me this last week.

I remember my high school graduation. I still have the graduation robe and the custom made dress I wore underneath. I now, even own the sewing machine that stiched the seams. ⁠

It's a long story. I didn't go to prom, so my parents put a bit of effort in my graduation dress. It was a purple and white, satin, dress. The dress came with a jacket that could make it into two different looks. It's hanging in a closet in my spare room. ⁠

I remember graduating at 17 years old and being very scared and optimistic about what was next. The world told me I was now on my own. But my heart wondered if I knew even 1 thing that was expected of grownups. ⁠

It was scary and beautiful. ⁠
⁠
I didn't have senior photos, except the yearbook photos in the black cape and the faux cap and gown. But it was a memorable time. ⁠

The queen in this photo is ready for the journey ahead of her. She's got a sturdy plan, a supportive family to bolster her and these printed photos to remind her of this milestone in her journey. ⁠

The guests wore masks, socially distanced but were all clearly excited for the couple. Shalonda was a beautiful and excited bride. John was cool, calm, and smiled broadly as his queen walked down the aisle to meet him. The best part about this microwedding is that the people that attended were super important to the couple. Covid-19 weddings are intimate and personal.

The one thing I can’t deny is that this is the most weirdness and uncertainty that I’ve felt in all my years on this earth.

The country is a wreck. All our old and scabbed over wounds are bursting open. We’ve been quarantined. We’ve had time to think and simmer. We have a renewed sense of our priorities and purpose. We are determined to create a new normal for our children and grandchildren - by any means necessary.

It’s scary. But it may be necessary.

In the middle of all the unpredictable chaos; growth is happening.
