Getting ready to release my new Facebook Group. "It Takes A Village!"
Over the past 5 years, I had been a caregiver to both my parents, been their POA's, Executor's, etc. I had to jump into an unknown world of Elder Care Attorneys, Case Managers, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Funeral homes, packing, moving, packing some more, spend-downs, retirement accounts, life policies, end of life planning, Hospice and then the envitable loss/ heartache of losing both my parents very close together.
I am still to this day dealing with Estate issues for them both and am still responsible for processing their taxes, and taking care of what is left behind. Handling all this while still working and taking care of my own family was unbeliveably HARD, STRESSFUL & OVERWHELMING.
That is why I created this Group. I had an enormous "To-Do" list; and had NO idea how to start or where to start!
I have met alot of very helpful professionals and buisnesses along the way. I was blessed to have a 2 year "headstart" in preparing for this & was still able to ask my parents questions to gather the information you are required to have once you become an Estate Executor. I have since ran into so many people that are in the same situation, experiencing the same emotional stress, the same "not knowing what to do" and the "not knowing where to start!".
If I can help someone by answering just a few questions, provide referrals to professionals that I know and trust or simply to just be a support to someone....that would make what was 4 of the hardest most emotional years of my life worth it. I was there for my parents when they needed me the most, and those years were very precious to me. Those memories I created in their last few years are ones I will always carry with me.
This will be a private group so members feel "safe" in asking questions in regards to their needs/ family concerns. Feel free to invite others to join this group. Each member will be asked questions to validate their membership request. If you are a business that offers services to the needs of this group, you can also submit an memebership request for review.
Thank you for all your suuport! KEEP an EYE out for "It Takes A Village" Group!
